The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Corpus Christi, United States of America, presented by Bishop William Michael Mulvey.
The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Mario Alberto Avilés, C.O., until now titular bishop of Cataquas and auxiliary of Brownsville, as bishop of Corpus Christi, United States of America.
Curriculum vitae
Bishop Mario Alberto Avilés, C.O., was born on 16 September 1969 in Mexico City, in the metropolitan archdiocese of México. After attending the Universidad Panamericana in Mexico City, he was awarded a bachelor’s degree in philosophy and theology at the Pontifical Athenaeum Regina Apostolorum in Rome, and a Master of Divinity at the Holy Apostles College and Seminary in Cromwell, Connecticut.
He was ordained a priest on 21 July 1998 for the Confederation of the Oratory of Saint Philip Neri.
He has held the following offices: parish vicar of Saint Jude Thaddeus in Pharr (1998-2002), parish priest of Sacred Heart in Hidalgo (2002-2017), principal of the Oratory Academy and Oratory Athenaeum in Pharr (2005-2012), procurator general of the Confederation of the Oratory of Saint Philip Neri (2012-2018).
On 4 December 2017, he was appointed titular bishop of Cataquas and auxiliary bishop of Brownsville, receiving episcopal ordination on 22 February 2018.

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend François Halyday Mbouangui, of the clergy of Nkayi, until now director of the diocesan Social Communication Centre and parish vicar of Saint-Michel in Madingou-Poste.
Curriculum vitae
Msgr. François Halyday Mbouangui was born on 4 October 1977 in Mindouli, diocese of Kinkala. After studying philosophy at the Mgr Firmin Singha National Major Seminary of Brazzaville, he studied theology at the Pontifical Urbaniana University of Rome.
He was ordained a priest on 14 July 2007.
After ordination, he first served as personal secretary to the current bishop, then chancellor of the diocese, head of youth pastoral care and cooperator at the parish of Saint-Louis in Nkayi (2007-2009), and parish vicar of San Rocco, Pedemonte (2009-2013) and Santa Maria Assunta, Manerba del Garda (2013-2023). He was awarded a licentiate in science of communication (2013) and a master’s degree in publishing and journalism from the University of Verona. Since 2023, he has served as director of the diocesan Social Communication Centre, member of the Council for Economic Affairs, and parish vicar of Saint-Michel in Madingou-Poste.
