Promulgation of Decrees of the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints, 31.03.2025

On 28 March 2025, the Holy Father authorized the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints to promulgate the Decrees regarding:

 

- the miracle attributed to the intercession of Blessed María Carmen (née Carmen Elena Rendíles Martínez), founder of the Congregation of the Handmaids of Jesus, born on 11 August 1903 in Caracas, Venezuela, and died there on 9 May 1977;

- the miracle attributed to the intercession of the Venerable Servant of God Carmelo De Palma, diocesan priest, born on 27 January 1876 in Bari, Italy, and died there on 24 August 1961;

- the heroic virtues of the Servant of God José Antônio de Maria Ibiapina, diocesan priest, born on 5 August 1806 in Sobral, Brazil, and died on 18 February 1883 in Arara, Brazil.

 

The Supreme Pontiff also approved the votes in favour of the Ordinary Session of the Cardinal Fathers and Bishops, members of the Dicastery, for the canonization of the Blesseds:

- Ignatios Shukrallah Maloyan, Armenian Catholic Archbishop of Mardin, born on 15 April 1869 in Mardin, Türkiye, and died on 11 June 1915 in Kara-Keupru, Türkiye;

- Peter To Rot, layperson, catechist, born in 1912 in Rakunai, Papua New Guinea, and died there in July 1945.

Together with other Causes for Blesseds, they will be inserted in the future Consistory which, as is customary, will address the next Canonizations.
