The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of San Jacinto, Ecuador, presented by Bishop Aníbal Nieto Guerra, O.C.D.
The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Gustavo Adolfo Rosales Escobar, until now titular bishop of Glavinizza and auxiliary of the metropolitan archdiocese of Guayaquil, as bishop of San Jacinto, Ecuador.
Curriculum vitae
Bishop Adolfo Rosales Escobar was born on 26 August 1964 in Valparaíso, Chile. He studied philosophy at the seminaries of Valparaíso and Cuenca, Ecuador, and was awarded diplomas in theology and presbyteral ministry, and in priestly formation from the Pastoral Theological Institute for Latin America of CELAM.
He was ordained a priest on 26 October 1991.
He has held the following offices: parish priest in various communities, pastoral coordinator of the Zona Sur rural vicariate, member of the Presbyteral Council, director of the diocesan publication Domingo día del Señor, episcopal vicar and rector of the seminary of Cuenca.
On 3 June 2022 he was appointed titular bishop of Glavinizza and auxiliary of Guayaquil, receiving episcopal ordination the following 6 August.
Appointment of auxiliary bishop of Graz-Seckau, Austria
The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Johannes Freitag, of the clergy of Graz-Seckau, Austria, currently military chaplain and head of the An der Eisenstraße pastoral unit, as auxiliary bishop of the same diocese, assigning him the titular see of Guzabeta.
Curriculum vitae
Msgr. Johannes Freitag was born on 24 June 1972 in the current parish of Lind-Maßweg. He attended the diocesan seminary of Graz-Seckau, and attended courses in philosophy and theology at the Universität Graz.
He received priestly ordination on 25 May 2000.
He has held the following offices: parish vicar in Marau and St. Peter am Kammersberg (1990-2002), parish vicar in Judenberg-St. Nikolaus (2002-2006), parish priest of the Trofaiach-Vordernberg-St. Peter-Freienstein parish unit (2006-2011), and head of the diocesan pastoral office (2011-2023).
Since 2021 he has served as military chaplain and, since 2023, head of the An der Eisenstraße pastoral unit.
