This morning, in the Vatican Apostolic Palace, the Holy Father Francis received in audience His Excellency Mr. George Gabriel Bologan, Ambassador of Romania to the Holy See, on the occasion of the presentation of his credential letters.
The following is a brief biography of the new ambassador:

Ambassador of Romania to the Holy See
His Excellency Mr. George Gabriel Bologan was born in 1974 and is married.
He studied philosophy and theology at various Roman Pontifical Universities (Gregorian, Pontifical Oriental Institute, Urbaniana and Saint Anselm), and graduated in 2000.
He holds a degree in communication sciences from the “Maria Santissima Assunta” Faculty in Rome (2009). He was accredited to the Holy See Press Office.
In addition, he attended several postgraduate and specialization courses at the Pontifical Urbaniana University in Rome, the State University of Oradea, the Romanian Diplomatic Institute, the Italian Society for International Organizations, the NATO Defence College in Rome, and Oxford University. He holds a master's degree in “Security and Good Governance” from the National Defence University “Carol I” (2020).
Since 2003, he has held various positions as a diplomat, including: consul general in Milan (2012 - 2016); ambassador to Italy (2016 - 2022); ambassador to Spain (2022 - 2024); and assessor to the President of Romania, Department of Foreign and European Affairs (February - October 2024).
He is also Associate Professor at the West University of Timisoara, Faculty of Political Science, a research fello at the Babes-Bolyai State University of Cluj Napoca, Faculty of History and Philosophy, Department of International Relations and European Studies.
