Today, the Holy Father Francis received in audience His Excellency Mr. Viktor Orbán, Prime Minister of the Republic of Hungary, who subsequently met with His Eminence Cardinal Secretary of State Pietro Parolin, accompanied by the Reverend Msgr. Mirosław Wachowski, Under-Secretary for Relations with States.
During the meeting at the Secretariat of State, which took place in a cordial atmosphere, the sound and fruitful bilateral relations were evoked and keen appreciation was expressed for the commitment of the Catholic Church to the promotion of the development and wellbeing of Hungarian society.
During the dialogue, particular attention was paid to the war in Ukraine, focusing on the humanitarian consequences and the efforts to promote peace.
In addition, some themes of common interest were examined, such as the Hungarian presidency of the Council of the European Union, the central role of the family and the protection of the young generations.
