On the days 2 and 3 December, at the Casa Santa Marta, the session of the Council of Cardinals was held. The Cardinal members and the Secretary of the Council were present, with the Pope.

Several topics were dealt with during the various appointments of the session, first of all with Cardinal Semeraro on collegiality in the Church, and thus on the relationship between the particular Church and the ecclesial assemblies, before continuing with a common conversation on the Synod that has just ended. In addition, the theme of women in the Church was explored, seeking a synthesis of the questions that arose during the last four sessions of the Council. Finally, time was devoted to the study and implementation of the principles and criteria of the Apostolic Constitution Praedicate evangelium in the diocesan Curias and the theme “The role of pontifical representatives from a synodal missionary perspective”, in conversation with Cardinal Gracias, chair of the relative study group.

As always, the Council was an opportunity for an overall reflection on the situation of the Church and the world in the Cardinals’ various areas of provenance, in order to share concerns and hopes regarding the situations of ongoing conflict and crisis.

The next session of the Council is scheduled for the month of April 2025.
