NOTIFICATION

LITURGICAL CELEBRATIONS IN THE TIME OF CHRISTMAS 2024-2025
PRESIDED OVER BY THE HOLY FATHER FRANCIS

 

Tuesday 24 December 2024
SOLEMNITY OF THE NATIVITY OF THE LORD
Beginning of the Ordinary Jubilee 2025
Papal Chapel
Saint Peter’s Basilica, 19.00

The Holy Father Francis will preside over the rite of the Opening of the Holy Door and Midnight Mass on the Solemnity of the Nativity of the Lord.
The Eucharistic Celebration will be preceded by a prayer of preparation, beginning at 18.30.
The Patriarchs, Cardinals, Archbishops and Bishops who wish to concelebrate are requested to be present by 18.30 at the Braccio di Costantino in order to put on their liturgical vestments, bringing with them: the Cardinals and Patriarchs, the white damask mitre; the Archbishops and Bishops, the white mitre.
The priests who wish to concelebrate with the Holy Father, subject to availability of places and having obtained the relevant ticket issued by the Office of Liturgical Celebrations of the Supreme Pontiff, should be present by 18.00 at the Gregorian Chapel, bringing with them their amice, surplice, cincture and white stole.

In accordance with the Motu Proprio Pontificalis Domus, all the members of the Papal Chapel who wish to participate in the liturgical celebration without concelebrating must obtain the Notification, to be requested at celebrazioni@celebra.va by 18 December. They must wear their own choral habit and be present at the Altar of the Confessio by 18.00, in order to occupy the place to be indicated to them by the pontifical Masters of Ceremonies.

“Urbi et Orbi” Blessing

The Holy Father Francis will deliver his Christmas message to the world and will impart the “Urbi et Orbi” Blessing.

SOLEMNITY OF MARY, MOTHER OF GOD
Saint Peter’s Basilica, 17.00

The Holy Father Francis will celebrate the First Vespers of the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God, to be followed by the traditional singing of the “Te Deum” hymn, at the conclusion of the civil year.

In accordance with the Motu Proprio Pontificalis Domus, all the members of the Papal Chapel who wish to participate in the liturgical celebration without concelebrating must obtain the Notification, to be requested at celebrazioni@celebra.va by 18 December. They must wear their own choral habit and be present at the Altar of the Confessio by 16.30, in order to occupy the place to be indicated to them by the pontifical Masters of Ceremonies.

SOLEMNITY OF MARY, MOTHER OF GOD

Saint Peter’s Basilica, 10.00

The Holy Father Francis will preside over the Eucharistic Celebration of the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God, in the Octave of Christmas, on the 58th World Peace Day.
The Patriarchs, Cardinals, Archbishops and Bishops who wish to concelebrate are requested to be present by 9.30 at the Chapel of Saint Sebastian in order to put on their liturgical vestments, bringing with them: the Cardinals and Patriarchs, the white damask mitre; the Archbishops and Bishops, the white mitre.
The priests who wish to concelebrate must obtain the necessary ticket, to be requested from this Office by 18 December via the procedure indicated at https://biglietti.liturgiepontificie.va, subject to availability of places, and must be present by 9.00 at the Braccio di Costantino, bringing with them their amice, surplice, cincture and white stole.
