Appointment of auxiliary bishop of Hradec Králové, Czech Republic
The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Prokop Brož, of the clergy of the diocese of Hradec Králové, Czech Republic, episcopal vicar for pastoral care, as auxiliary bishop of the same diocese, assigning him the titular see of Litomyšl.
Curriculum vitae
Msgr. Prokop Brož was born on 22 March 1972 in Náchod, in the diocese of Hradec Králové. He carried out his studies in theology and philosophy at the Pontifical Lateran University in Rome. He was ordained a priest on 14 June 1997.
After ordination, he held the roles of parish vicar in Nová Paka (1997-1998) and Kutná Hora (1998-2001), and ecclesiastical assistant and spiritual director of the Catholic High School of Kutná Hora (2000-2001). He was awarded a licentiate in systematic theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome (2003) and a doctorate from the Catholic Theological Faculty of Prague, and served as lecturer (2003-2018) and dean of the Catholic Theological Faculty of Prague (2010-2018), and parish priest of Hradec Králové (2018-2022).
He is currently rector of the Church of the Assumption, episcopal vicar for pastoral care, episcopal delegate for ecumenism and for the formation of permanent deacons, director of the Diocesan Theological Institute of the Bishopric of Hradec Králové, and canon of the Cathedral Chapter of the Holy Spirit of Hradec Králové.
