Resignation and appointment of bishop of Koper, Slovenia

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Koper, Slovenia, presented by Bishop Jurij Bizjak.

The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Peter Štumpf, S.D.B., as bishop of the same diocese, transferring him from the see of Murska Sobota.

Curriculum vitae

Bishop Peter Štumpf, S.D.B., was born on 28 June 1962 in the diocese of Murska Sobota. After completing the Salesian novitiate and continuing his studies in philosophy and theology in Ljubljana and at the Salesian Pontifical University in Turin, where he graduated in Mariology, he was ordained a priest on 29 June 1990.

After ordination, he first held the role of parish priest in Ig (Ljubljana), Sevnica, Maribor and Veržej. He was awarded a doctorate in theology from the Faculty of Theology in Ljubljana in 2002, and went on to serve as parish priest of Mary Help of Christians in Rakovnik, Ljubljana (2003-2006).

On 24 May 2006 he was appointed titular bishop of Musti in Numidia and auxiliary of the metropolitan archdiocese of Maribor, receiving episcopal consecration the following 10 September. On 28 November 2009 he was appointed bishop of Murska Sobota.

He is vice president and member of the Permanent Council of the Episcopal Conference of Slovenia.

 

Appointment of bishop of San Felipe, Venezuela

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Rubén Gregorio Delgado Carmona, of the clergy of the diocese of Trujillo, vicar general and rector of the major seminary of Trujillo, as bishop of the diocese of San Felipe, Venezuela.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Delgado Carmona was born on 16 March in Trujillo. After his studies in philosophy at the major seminary of Caracas, he completed his studies in theology at the Pontifical Lateran University of Rome. He was awarded a licentiate in moral theology from the Pontifical Alphonsian Academy and a licentiate in canon law from the Pontifical Lateran University in Rome.

He was ordained a priest on 23 April 1994 for the diocese of Trujillo.

He has held the following offices: parish vicar, parish priest, professor, spiritual director and vice rector of the major seminary of Merida, judicial vicar of the Diocesan Ecclesiastical Tribunal and diocesan administrator sede vacante of Trujillo.

He is currently vicar general, rector of the major seminary of Trujillo, and member of the Presbyteral Council, the College of Consultors and the Council for Economic Affairs.
