The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Marcelino Antonio M. Maralit as bishop of the diocese of San Pablo, Philippines, transferring him from the diocese of Boac.
Curriculum vitae
Bishop Marcelino Antonio M. Maralit was born on 18 May 1969 in Manila. He carried out his studies in philosophy at the Saint Francis de Sales Major Seminary in Lipa City, and in theology at the Universidad de Navarra in Pamplona, obtaining a licentiate in theology; he subsequently attended the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross in Rome, where he was awarded a licentiate in Church history.
He was ordained a priest for the archdiocese of Lipa on 13 March 1995.
He has held the following offices: parish vicar of the Immaculate Conception, Bauan, Batangas (1995-1996), teacher at Saint Francis de Sales Major Seminary, deputy director of the diocesan Commission for vocations and director of the same Commission (1996-1999), vice rector, professor, educator, dean of studies (2003-2009) and rector (2009-2013) of Saint Francis Theological Seminary, parish priest of Invencion de la Santa Cruz in Alitatag, Batangas (2013-2014), and member of the Presbyteral Council of the archdiocese of Lipa.
On 13 December 2014 he was elected to the see of Boac and consecrated a bishop on 13 March 2015.
Within the Catholic Bishops‘ Conference of the Philippines, he is chair of the Episcopal Commission for Social Communications and member of the Episcopal Commission for Youth.
