In the morning of 14 August 2024, a cordial conversation took place between Mr. Li Hui, Special Representative of the Chinese Government on Eurasian Affairs, and His Eminence Cardinal Matteo Zuppi, as part of the mission entrusted to the Cardinal by Pope Francis for peace in Ukraine and following the meeting in Beijing last September. During the telephone conversation, great concern was expressed regarding the situation and the need to promote dialogue between the Parties, with adequate international guarantees for a just and lasting peace.
