Today, 14 June 2024, in the Vatican Apostolic Palace, the Holy Father Francis received in audience the President of the Republic of Cabo Verde, His Excellency José Maria Pereira Neves, who subsequently met with His Eminence Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Secretary of State of His Holiness, accompanied by His Excellency Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, Secretary for Relations with States and International Organizations.

During the cordial talks, held at the Secretariat of State, the good relations between the Holy See and Cabo Verde were emphasized, and some aspects of the country’s social and economic situation were discussed, as well as the application of the bilateral Agreement ratified in 2014.

There followed an exchange of views on international current affairs, with particular reference to security problems, ongoing conflicts in the world, migratory phenomena and human trafficking.
