On Tuesday 11 June 2024, at 11.30, a press conference will be held in the Holy See Press Office, Sala San Pio X, Via dell’Ospedale 1, to present the workshop “Black Holes, Gravitational Waves and Space-Time Singularities” – An international workshop to celebrate the legacy of G. Lemaître in the new millennium, organized by the Vatican Observatory (16 to 21 June 2024).

The speakers will be:

Br. Guy Consolmagno, S.J., planetologist, director of the Vatican Observatory;

Fr. Gabriele Gionti, S.J., cosmologist, deputy director of the Vatican Observatory and LNF-INFN Frascati;

Professor Massimo Bianchi, theoretical physicist, full professor of the University of Rome and INFN “Tor Vergata”;

Don Matteo Galaverni, cosmologist, Vatican Observatory;

Dr. Fabio Scardigli, theoretical physicist, Milan Polytechnic.

On Thursday 13 June 2024, at 11.30, a press conference will be held in the Holy See Press Office, Sala San Pio X, Via dell’Ospedale 1, to present the document of the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity, “The bishop of Rome. Primacy and synodality in the ecumenical dialogues and in the responses to the Encyclical Ut unum sint.

“The Bishop of Rome” is a study document, published with the approval of Pope Francis, summarizing for the first time the responses to the Encyclical Ut unum sint and the ecumenical dialogues on the question of primacy and synodality. The document concludes with a proposal from the Dicastery, identifying the most significant suggestions made for a renewed exercise of the ministry of unity of the Bishop of Rome, “recognized by one and all”.

The speakers will be:

His Eminence Cardinal Kurt Koch, prefect of the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity;

His Eminence Cardinal Mario Grech, secretary general of the General Secretariat of the Synod;

His Eminence Khajag Barsamian, representative of the Armenian Apostolic Church to the Holy See – Catholicosate of Etchmiadzin (by live link);

His Grace Archbishop Ian Ernest, director of the Anglican Centre of Rome and personal representative of the Archbishop of Canterbury to the Holy See (by live link).
