Resignation and appointment of bishop of Piedras Negras, Mexico

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Piedras Negras, Mexico, presented by Bishop Alonso Gerardo Garza Treviño.

The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Alfonso Gerardo Miranda Guardiola, until now titular of Idicra and auxiliary of Monterrey, as bishop of the diocese of Piedras Negras, Mexico.

Curriculum vitae

Bishop Alfonso Gerardo Miranda Guardiola was born on 6 July 1966 in Monterrey.

He was ordained a priest on 15 August 1998, and incardinated in the metropolitan archdiocese of Monterrey. He was awarded a licentiate in moral theology from the Universidad Pontifícia de Mexico.

He has held the following offices: seminary prefect and teacher, deputy parish priest and rector of the temple of San Maximiliano Kolbe, secretary chancellor of the Curia, and director of the ecclesiastical archive and of the Department of History of the metropolitan archdiocese of Monterrey. On 22 March 2014 he was appointed titular bishop of Idicra and auxiliary of Monterrey, receiving episcopal ordination the following 13 June. In 2016 he was elected secretary general of the Mexican Episcopal Conference and in 2021, head of the Episcopal Secretariat for the Family.

 

Appointment of bishop of Tacámbaro, Mexico

The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Juan Carlos Arcq Guzmán, until now titular of Milevo and auxiliary of the metropolitan archdiocese of Monterrey, as bishop of the diocese of Tacámbero, Mexico.

Curriculum vitae

Bishop Juan Carlos Arcq Guzmán was born on 17 October 1966 in Monterrey. He was ordained a priest on 15 August 1997, and incardinated in the archdiocese of Monterrey.

He has held the following offices: chaplain of the Rectory of San Maximiliano Kolbe and of the Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Angels; missionary in the diocese of San Cristóbal de Las Casas; director of the Pastoral Centre for Missionary Formation and of the Missions Department; ecclesial assessor of the Raza Nueva en Cristo Movement; parish priest of San Miguel Arcángel in Juárez; prefect of the Institute of Theology of the Archdiocesan Seminary; member of the College of Consultors and rector of the archdiocesan seminary of Monterrey. On 17 October 2020 he was appointed titular bishop of Milevi and auxiliary of Monterrey, receiving episcopal ordination the following 17 December.

 

Appointment of members of the Dicastery for Evangelization

The Holy Father has appointed the following as members of the Dicastery for Evangelization in the Section for First Evangelization and the new particular Churches: the Reverend Fathers Ferruccio Brambillasca, superior general of the Pontifical Institute for Foreign Missions, and Luis Ignacio Rois Alonso, superior general of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate; the Reverend Father Anthony Chantry, M.H.M., national director of the Missio in England and Wales; the Reverend Mother Mary Teresa Barron, superior general of the Missionary Sisters of Our Lady of Apostles.
