This morning, 16 May, the Holy Father Francis received in audience, in the Vatican Apostolic Palace, the President of the Republic of Latvia, His Excellency Mr. Edgars Rinkēvičs, who went on to meet with His Eminence Cardinal Secretary of State Pietro Parolin, accompanied by Msgr. Daniel Pacho, Under-Secretary for the Multilateral Sector of the Section for Relations with States and International Organizations.

During the cordial discussions, which took place at the Secretariat of State, satisfaction was expressed at the good relations between the Holy See and the Republic of Latvia, highlighting the importance of the Christian faith in Latvian society.

Particular mention was made of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, emphasizing the role of the international community in the search for peaceful solutions, and of the challenges posed by Artificial Intelligence and the development of new technologies.
