Appointment of apostolic nuncio in Venezuela

The Holy Father has appointed Archbishop Alberto Ortega Martín, titular of Midila, until now apostolic nuncio in Chile, as apostolic nuncio in Venezuela.

 

Appointment of apostolic nuncio in the Solomon Islands

The Holy Father has appointed Archbishop Mauro Lalli, titular of Pausula, apostolic nuncio in Papua New Guinea, as apostolic nuncio in the Solomon Islands.

 

Appointment of apostolic nuncio in South Sudan

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Msgr. Séamus Patrick Horgan, nunciature counsellor, as apostolic nuncio resident in South Sudan, at the same time elevating him to the titular see of Árd Sratha, with the dignity of archbishop.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Séamus Patrick Horgan was born in Ennis, Ireland, on 31 August 1969. He was ordained a priest on 11 June 1994, and incardinated in the diocese of Killaloe.

He graduated in canon law.

He entered the Holy See Diplomatic Service on 1 July 2005, and has served in the Pontifical Representations in Uganda, Switzerland, the Philippines, in the Section for Relations with States and International Organizations of the Secretariat of State, and finally at the Apostolic Nunciature in the United States of America.

He knows French, English, Italian and German.

 

Appointment of bishop of Comayagua, Honduras

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Fr. Ángel Falzón, O.F.M., until now parish priest of Inmaculada Concepción in Aguanquerique, as bishop of the diocese of Comayagua, Honduras.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Ángel Falzón, O.F.M., was born on 15 October 1957 in Naxxar, Malta, and carried out his studies in philosophy and theology at the National Institute of Religious Ecclesiastical Studies of Malta (INSERM).

He gave his solemn vows on 10 October 1982, and was ordained a priest on 29 June 1984 for the Franciscan province of the Friars Minor of Malta.

After ordination he passed to the French province of the Immaculate Conception (New York), entering the Central American Foundation.

In 1985 he went to Honduras as a missionary, where he held the following offices: deputy parish priest of Santa Ana in La Libertad; parish priest of San Antonio of Aguanqueterique (1990-2012) and of Inmaculada Concepción in La Paz.

 

Appointment of bishop of Garanhuns, Brazil

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Agnaldo Temóteo da Silveira, of the clergy of the diocese of Sobral, until now vicar general and parish priest of Nossa Senhora do Patrocínio, as bishop of the diocese of Garanhuns, Brazil.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Agnaldo Temóteo da Silveira was born on 28 May 1977 in Bela Cruz, diocese of Sobral, in the State of Ceará. He carried out his studies in philosophy and theology in the Séminario Regional Nordeste 1 in Fortaleza-CE, and obtained a licentiate in canon law from the Pontifical Gregorian University, Rome.

On 10 July 2002 he received priestly ordination and was incardinated in the diocese of Sobral.

He has held the following offices: member of the diocesan pastoral coordination team (2003-2005), parish administrator of Senhora Sant’Ana in Santana do Aracaú-CE (2003-2008), chaplain of the diocesan College (2004-2006), chancellor of the Curia (2006-2008, 2014-2019), parish priest of São Francisco in Forquilha-CE (2012-2018), episcopal vicar (2012-2014, 2017-2024), adjunct judicial vicar of the Regional Ecclesiastical Tribunal of Ceará, member of the Presbyteral Council and of the College of Consultors, chaplain of the diocesan College, ecclesiastical judge.

He is currently vicar general and parish priest of Nossa Senhora do Patrocínio in Sobral-CE.
