Appointment of auxiliary bishops of Birmingham, England

The Holy Father has appointed the following as auxiliary bishops of Birmingham, England: the Reverend Msgr. Timothy Francis Menezes, until now canon and dean of the Metropolitan Cathedral of Birmingham, assigning him the titular see of Thugga, and the canon Richard Adrian Walker, until now canon of the Metropolitan Cathedral of Birmingham and vicar general of the archdiocese of Birmingham, assigning him the titular see of Mortlach.

Curriculum vitae of Msgr. Timothy Francis Menezes

Msgr. Timothy Francis Menezes was born on 18 July 1970 in Birmingham. He carried out his ecclesiastical studies at the Oscott Seminary, Saint Mary’s College and at the Venerable English College of Rome, and was awarded a bachelor’s degree in theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome.

He was ordained a priest on 22 July 1995.

After obtaining a licentiate in liturgy from the Pontifical Saint Anselm Liturgical Institute in Rome (1996), he served as parish vicar of Saint Michael’s Penn (1996-1998), associate lecturer at the Maryvale Institute, Birmingham (1996-2004), parish vicar at Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Redditch (1998-2000), lecturer in liturgy at Saint Mary’s College (1998-2011), special secretary to the Archbishop of Birmingham (2000-2004), member of the Liturgical Commission of the Episcopal Conference (since 2020), expert advisor for the English International Liturgical Commission (2002-2004), parish priest of Saint Thomas More, Coventry (2004-2011), Canon of the Chapter (2011) and dean of Saint Chad Metropolitan Cathedral (since 2019), and vicar general (2011-2019).

Curriculum vitae of Msgr. Richard Adrian Walker

Msgr. Richard Adrian Walker was born on 24 October 1960 in Birmingham. He was awarded a degree in law from Coventry University and practiced as a lawyer. He carried out his ecclesiastical studies at Oscott Seminary, Saint Mary’s College and the Venerable English College of Rome, and was awarded a bachelor’s degree in theology and a licentiate in dogmatic theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome.

He was ordained a priest on 22 July 2000.

He has held the following offices: parish vicar of Christ the King, Coventry (2000-2003), member of the Formation Team and lecturer at Saint Mary’s College (2003-2014), vice rector of Saint Mary’s College (2006-2014), parish priest of Saint John the Evangelist, Banbury (2014-2020), parish priest of Saint Joseph the Worker, Banbury (2018-2020), director of Permanent Formation of the Clergy (2015-2020), trustee of Saint Mary’s College (since 2016), member of the diocesan Commission for Safeguarding (since 2017), vicar general and trustee of the archdiocese of Birmingham and canon of the Metropolitan Cathedral of Saint Chad.
