Resignation and succession of metropolitan archbishop of Maceió, Brazil

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the metropolitan archdiocese of Maceió, Brazil, presented by Archbishop Antônio Muniz Fernandes, O.Carm.

He is succeeded by Archbishop Carlos Alberto Breis Pereira, O.F.M., until now coadjutor archbishop of the same diocese.

 

Appointment of bishop of Tenancingo, Mexico

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Fr. Víctor Carabés Cháves, M.N.M., director of the Escuela Hogar in Mérida, in the archdiocese of Yucatán, as bishop of Tenancingo, Mexico.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Carabés Cháves was born on 10 July 1963 in Mexico City. He entered the minor seminary of the Missionaries of the Nativity of Mary and studied philosophy and theology at the León Seminary.

He gave his perpetual vows in 1990 and was ordained a priest on 2 July 1991.

He has held the following offices: director of the Pre-Vocational School in Monterrey, advisor for the economy and superior general (2008-2021). He is currently director of the Escuela Hogar in Mérida, in the archdiocese of Yucatán.

 

Appointment of auxiliary bishop of the eparchy of Our Lady of Nareg in Glendale of the Armenians, U.S.A. and Canada

The Holy Father has appointed the Revered Fr. Parsegh (Manuel) Baghdassarian, currently parish priest of Saint Gregory the Illuminator Cathedral in Los Angeles, United States of America, as auxiliary bishop of the eparchy of Our Lady of Nareg in Glendale of the Armenians, United States of America and Canada, attributing to him the titular see of Comana Armeniae.

Curriculum vitae

Parsegh (Manuel) Baghdassarian was born on 21 February 1975 in Beirut, Lebanon, and entered the Saint Michael the Archangel Seminary in Bzommar on 8 August 1988.

He carried out his studies in philosophy and theology from 1993 to 1996. He then completed his theological formation in Rome, at the Pontifical Gregorian University, and graduated in Eastern canon law from the Pontifical Oriental Institute (1996-2001). Finally, he obtained a diploma in formation of educators from the Salesian Pontifical University (2011-2012).

He was ordained a priest on 2 September 2000 in Beirut. He is a member of the Institute of the Patriarchal Clergy of Bzommar.

From 2001 to 2002 he was vice-rector of the San Vartan Seminary in Aleppo, Syria. From 2002 to 2007 he served in a parish and became treasurer of Caritas in Damascus, Syria. From 2007-2017 he held the role of bursar general of the Institute of Bzommar, and from 2011 to 2017 he was rector of the major and minor seminaries.

In 2012 he was appointed a judge of the Armenian ecclesiastical tribunal and of the Maronite tribunal. He is a representative of the Armenian Catholic Church for Caritas in Lebanon.

Since 2017, he has served as parish priest of Saint Gregory the Illuminator Cathedral in Los Angeles, of the eparchy of Our Lady of Nareg in Glendale, United States of America.
