Resignation and appointment of bishop of Clifton, England

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Clifton, England, presented by Bishop Declan Ronan Lang.

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Canon Bosco MacDonald, of the diocese of Clifton, dean and parish priest of the Cathedral Church of Saints Peter and Paul, Bristol, as bishop of Clifton, England.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Bosco MacDonald was born on 21 July 1963. He carried out his studies for formation in the priesthood at the English Seminary in Valladolid, Spain. He was ordained for the clergy of the diocese of Clifton on 6 July 1991.

He has held the following offices: parish vicar at the Cathedral Church of Saints Peter and Paul in Bristol (1991-1995), parish priest of Saint John Fisher’s in Wellington (1995-1998), diocesan coordinator of school chaplains (1997), parish priest of the Holy Family parish in Patchway (1998-2008), vicar forane of the Bristol North zone (2003-2007), parish priest of Saint Gregory the Great and Saint Thomas More in Cheltenham (2009-2015), dean and parish priest of the Cathedral Church of Saints Peter and Paul in Bristol since 2015, and since 2019, canon of the same Cathedral.
