Resignation of bishop of Łowicz, Poland

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Łowicz, Poland, presented by Bishop Andrzej Franciszek Dziuba.

 

Resignation and appointment of metropolitan archbishop of Kupang, Indonesia

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the metropolitan archdiocese of Kupang, Indonesia, presented by Archbishop Peter Turang.

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Hironimus Pakaenoni, of the clergy of Kupang, until now formator at the Saint Michael Interdiocesan Seminary of Kupang and lecturer at the Universitas Katolik Widya Mandira.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Hironimus Pakaenoni was born on 14 April 1969 in Noemuti, diocese of Atambua. He attended the minor seminary of Lalian, diocese of Atambua, and then the Ritapiret Interdiocesan Major Seminary, diocese of Maumere, following courses in philosophy at the Superior School of Ledalero. After a pastoral year in the archdiocese of Kupang, he continued his studies in theology in Ritapiret and Ledalero.

He was ordained a priest on 8 September 1997, and incardinated in Kupang.

After ordination, he first held the roles of parish vicar in the parish of Saint Mary of the Assumption in Kupang (1997-1999) and parish priest of the Saint Petrus Community in Sulamu (1999-2001). He was awarded a licentiate in dogmatic theology from the Pontifical Urban University in Rome (2001-2003), and went on to serve as parish vicar of Saint Gregory the Great in Oloeta (2003-2004), formator of the Saint Michael Interdiocesan Major Seminary in Kupang and lecturer in dogmatic theology at the Universitas Katolik Widya Mandira in Kupang (since 2004); dean of the Faculty of Philosophy of Religion of the Universitas Katolik Widya Mandira in Kupang (2010-2018), and chair of the Swastisari Educational Foundation (2012-2023).

 

Appointment of bishop of Miarinarivo, Madagascar

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Msgr. Jean Claude Rakotoarisoa, of the clergy of the diocese of Tsiroanomandidy, until now vicar general and national director of the Pontifical Mission Societies in Madagascar, as bishop of the diocese of Miarinarivo, Madagascar.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Jean Claude Rakotoarisoa was born on 4 October 1972 in Tsiroanomandidy. After his studies in the minor and preparatory seminary in Tsiroanomandidy, he studied philosophy at the Saint Paul Interdiocesan Major Seminary in Manantenasoa-Antsirabe. After two years of pastoral experience in the minor seminary of Tsiroanomandidy, he studied theology at the Saint Pierre Interdiocesan Major Seminary in Ambatoroka-Antananarivo. He was ordained a priest on 29 August 1999 for the diocese of Tsiroanomandidy.

He was awarded a master’s degree in theology from the Catholic Institute of Madagascar, Antananarivo (1999-2001), and went on to serve as vicar of the Cathedral of Tsiroanomandidy (2001-2007), diocesan bursar and secretary of Tsiroanomandidy (2001-2009), interim director of the Catholic High School of Tsiroanomandidy (2005-2006), and vicar of the district of Andranomadio (2007-2008), parish priest of the district of Andranomadio (2008-2010). He studied in Rome at the Pontifical Urban University from 2010 to 2016, receiving a licentiate and doctorate in canon law, and went on to serve as diocesan administrator of Tsiroanomandidy (2017-2021). Since 2021, he has held the office of vicar general of Tsiroanomandidy and national director of the Pontifical Mission Societies in Madagascar.

 

Appointment of auxiliary bishop of Mbeya, Tanzania

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Godfrey Jackson Mwasekaga, of the clergy of the metropolitan archdiocese of Mbeya, Tanzania, until now vicar general of Mbeya and parish priest of Saint Francis of Assisi in Mwanjelwa, as auxiliary bishop of the same metropolitan archdiocese of Mbeya, assigning him the titular see of Thuburbo minus.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Godfrey Jackson Mwasekaga was born on 7 March 1976 in Kyela, Mbeya. He studied at the Saint Augustin Major Seminary in Peramiho and was ordained a priest on 14 July 2005 for the clergy of Mbeya.

After ordination, he first held the roles of deputy parish priest of Saint Peter Claver in Mlowo (2005-2008 and 2017-2018), director of the Catechesis Office of the archdiocese and director of the Catechetical Training Center (2006-2008). He was awarded a licentiate in sacred theology from the San Tommaso Theological Institute in Messina, Italy, and a doctorate in theology from the Salesian Pontifical University in Rome (2008-2017), and went on to serve as parish priest of Saint Peter Claver in Mlowo (2018-2019). Since 2017 he has been director of the Catechesis Office of the archdiocese and director of the Catechetical Training Center and coordinator of liturgy; and since 2019, vicar general of the archdiocese of Mbeya and parish priest of Saint Francis of Assisi in Mwanjelwa.
