Resignation and appointment of bishop of San Marino-Montefeltro, Italy

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of San Marino-Montefeltro, Italy, presented by Bishop Andrea Turazzi.

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Domenico Beneventi, of the clergy of the archdiocese of Acerenza, parish priest and teacher, as bishop of San Marino-Montefeltro, Italy.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Domenico Beneventi was born on 8 February 1974 in Castelmezzano, Potenza, in the archdiocese of Acerenza. He carried out his studies in philosophy and theology at the Interdiocesan Major Seminary of Basilicata.

He was ordained a priest on 3 July 1999 for the archdiocese of Acerenza.

After ordination, he first served as deputy parish priest, parish administrator and parish priest in the parish of Assunzione di Maria Vergine in Laurenzana, Potenza (1999-2010); director of the diocesan Office for Youth Pastoral Care (2000-2003); teacher of religion at the Galilei State High School of Potenza (2004-2007); parish administrator in Pietrapertosa, Potenza (2008-2009); study assistant at the Youth Pastoral Office of the Italian Episcopal Conference (2008-2013); since 2009, collaborator in the Office for Social Communications of the Italian Episcopal Conference; since 2013, parish priest of San Nicola di Bari in Pietragalla, Potenza; and since 2013, lecturer in pastoral theology, catechetics and pedagogy at the Theological Institute of Basilicata. He was awarded a licentiate in theology of education (2016) and a doctorate in pastoral theology (2018) from the Pontifical Lateran University of Rome. Since 2021, he has served as the director of the diocesan Catechistic Office.

In addition, he is a member of the Secular Institute of Missionary Priests of the Kingship of Christ; formator in digital didactics and media education at the Comprehensive Institute of Pietragalla, Potenza; director of the diocesan Youth Pastoral Office; director of the diocesan Office of Social Communications; unitary regional assistant of Catholic Action; diocesan assistant for the Youth Sector of Catholic Action; spiritual assistant and socio-educational professional educator at the Emmanuel Rehabilitation Community for drug dependents in Siano.
