Resignation and appointment of metropolitan archbishop of Ranchi, India

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the archdiocese of Ranchi, India, presented by Archbishop Felix Toppo, S.J.

The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Vincent Aind as metropolitan archbishop of Ranchi, India, transferring him from the diocese of Bagdogra.

Curriculum vitae

Archbishop-elect Vincent Aind was born on 30 January 1955 in Kalchini, in the diocese of Jalpaiguri. He was ordained a priest on 30 April 1984 for the same diocese. He was appointed bishop of Bagdogra on 7 April 2015, receiving episcopal consecration the following 14 June.

 

Resignation and appointment of bishop of Nashik, India

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Nashik, India, presented by Bishop Lourdnada Daniel.

The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Barthol Barretto, until now auxiliary of the archdiocese of Bombay, as bishop of Nashik, India, at the same time relieving him of the titular see of Strongoli.

Curriculum vitae

Bishop Barthol Barretto was born in Mumbai on 16 September 1961. He was ordained a priest on 8 April 1989, and was elected to the titular see of Strongoli and the office of auxiliary bishop of Bombay on 20 December 2016, receiving episcopal consecration on 28 January 2017. He is currently secretary of the Regional Council, responsible for Social Communications and the Charismatic Movement.

 

Appointment of bishop of Jhabua, India

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Peter Rumal Kharadi, of the clergy of the diocese of Jhabua, India, until now diocesan administrator, as bishop of the same diocese.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Peter Rumal Kharadi was born on 10 April 1959 in Kaldela, in the diocese of Ajmer. He studied philosophy and theology at Saint Charles’ Seminary in Ajmer and was awarded a Master of Arts in public administration from Nagpur University.

He was ordained a priest on 6 April 1988 for the diocese of Udaipur, and was incardinated in 2002 in the diocese of Jhabua, which had been created in the same year.

He has held the following offices: deputy parish priest in Maskamodi, Udaipur (1988-1991); deputy parish priest in Thandla, Udaipur (1991-1996); deputy parish priest in Ambapada, Udaipur (1996-1998); parish priest in Mokampura, Udaipur (1998-2002); parish priest in Unnai, Jhabua (2002-2006); vicar general and parish priest of the Cathedral of Jhabua (2006-2008; 2009-2013); chancellor (2008-2009; 2013-2015); since 2021, diocesan administrator of Jhabua.

 

Appointment of coadjutor bishop of Aurangabad, India

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Bernard Lancy Pinto, of the clergy of the archdiocese of Bombay, until now parish priest of Saint Michael and dean of the deanery of North Mumbai in India, as coadjutor bishop of Aurangabad, India.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Bernard Lancy Pinto was born on 20 August 1963 in Vikroli, Mumbai. After obtaining a degree in natural sciences and a degree in social work, he continued his philosophical and theological formation at Saint Pius College in Mumbai.

He was ordained a priest on 29 April 1997.

He has held the following offices: deputy parish priest of Saint Jude in Jeri Meri (1993-1996); assistant of Young Christian Workers (1996-1997); deputy director of the Joseph Cardijn Technical School of Bombay (1997-1999); parish priest of Saint Antony in Saki Naka (1999-2005); parish priest of Our Lady of Dolors in Sonapur (2005-2010); parish priest of Saint Antony in Dharavi (2010-2014); parish priest of Saint Jude (2014-2018); dean of Kurla Denary (2010-2018); since 2013, secretary of the Commission of Justice and Peace; since 2018, parish priest of Saint Michael in Bombay; and since 2021, dean of the deanery of North Mumbai and president of the Conference of Diocesan Priests.
