Resignation of archbishop of Gagnoa, Cote d’Ivoire

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the archdiocese of Gagnoa, Cote d’Ivoire, presented by Archbishop Joseph Aké Yapo.

 

Appointment of bishop of Primavera do Leste-Paranatinga, Brazil

The Holy Father has appointed Bishop João Aparecido Bergamasco, S.A.C., as bishop of the diocese of Primavera do Leste-Paranatinga, Brazil, transferring him from the see of Corumbá.

Curriculum vitae

Bishop João Aparecido Bergamasco, S.A.C., was born on 15 May 1967 in Tuneiras do Oeste, diocese of Umuarama, in the State of Paraná. He carried out his studies in philosophy and theology in the Faculdade Palotina in Santa Maria-RS and attended a formation course for religious and consecrated life in the Instituto Santo Tomás de Aquino in Belo Horizonte-MG.

On 25 March 1990, he gave his religious vows in the Society of the Catholic Apostolate (Pallottines) and received priestly ordination on 26 December 1993.

He has held the following offices: parish vicar of São Francisco de Assis in Ariquemes-RO, Cristo Redentor in Cerejeiras-RO, São Roque in Coronel Vivida-PR, Nossa Senhora de Fátima in Porto Alegre-RS and Rainha dos Apóstolos in Manaus-AM; parish priest of Santo Anônio in Iporã-PR, the Nossa Senhora de Fátima Shrine in Manaus-AM and Nossa Senhora de Fátima in Fátima do Sul-MS; vocational animator; rector of the São Vicente Pallotti minor seminary in Palotina-PR; and director of the the postulantate in Manaus-AM.

On 19 December 2018 he was appointed bishop of Corumbá and received episcopal ordination on 3 March 2019.

Within the National Conference of Bishops of Brazil, he is a member of the Pastoral Episcopal Commission for Socio-transformative Action.
