Appointment of special envoy to the celebration of the 700th anniversary of the canonization of Saint Thomas Aquinas (Abbey of Fossanova, 18 July 2023)

The Holy Father has appointed His Eminence Cardinal Marcello Semeraro, prefect of the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints, as his special envoy to the celebration of the 700th anniversary of the canonization of Saint Thomas Aquinas, to be held in the Abbey of Fossanova, Italy, on 18 July 2023.

 

Appointment of auxiliary bishops of San Diego, U.S.A.

The Holy Father has appointed the following as auxiliary bishops of San Diego, United States of America: Msgr. Michael Pham, of the clergy of the same diocese, until now vicar general and parish priest of the Good Shepherd parish in San Diego, assigning him the titular see of Cercina; and the Reverend Felipe Pulido, of the clergy of the diocese of Yakima, until now vicar for the clergy and parish priest of the Saint Joseph parish in Kennewick, assigning him the titular. See of Buffada.

 

Curriculum vitae of Msgr. Michael Pham

Msgr. Michael Pham was born on 27 January 1967 in Da Nang, Vietnam. After his bachelor’s degree and a master’s in aeronautical engineering, he carried out his ecclesiastical studies at Saint Patrick Seminary in Menlo Park.

He was ordained a priest for the diocese of San Diego on 25 June 1999.

After ordination, he held the roles of parish vicar of the Saint Mary Star of the Sea parish in Oceanside (1999-2001); vocational director (2001-2004); and parish priest of the Holy Family (2004-2014), Saint Therese (2014-2016) and Good Shepherd (since 2016) parishes in San Diego. He was awarded a licentiate in evangelization from the Sacred Heart Seminary in Detroit (2020). Since 2017 he has served as episcopal vicar for the ethnic communities and, since 2018, vicar general.

 

Curriculum vitae of Msgr. Felipe Pulido

Msgr. Felipe Pulido was born on 13 January 1970 in Dos Aguas in Michoacán, Mexico. He carried out his ecclesiastical studies at Mount Angel Seminary in Oregon (1994-1998), and then, as a student of the Pontifical North American College, he was awarded a bachelor’s degree in theology from the University of Saint Thomas Aquinas (1998).

He was ordained a priest for the diocese of Yakima on 28 June 2002.

He has held the offices of parish vicar of the Holy Family parish in Yakima (2002-2003) and Our Lady of Fatima in Moses Lake (2003-2006); parish priest of Our Lady of the Snows in Leavenworth (2006-2008); parish priest of Our Lady of Fatima in Moses Lake and of Queen of All Saints in Warden (2008-2012); vocational director (since 2011); and parish priest of Saint Joseph in Yakima (2012). Since 2012 he has served as vicar for the clergy and parish priest of Saint Joseph in Kennewick.
