Resignation and appointment of bishop of Lokossa, Benin

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Lokossa, Benin, presented by Bishop Victor Agbanou.

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Coffi Roger Anoumou, of the clergy of the same diocese, until now rector of the Saint Paul Major Seminary of Djimé.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Coffi Roger Anoumou was born on 30 July 1972 in Dogbo. After attending the minor seminaries of Adjatokpa in Djimé and Parakou, and the preparatory seminary of Missérété, he completed his studies in philosophy and theology at the Saint Gall Seminary of Ouidah.

He was ordained a priest on 27 December 2003 for the clergy of Lokossa.

After ordination, he first served as formator and teacher of English and philosophy in the Parakou Seminary (2003-2005), and deputy parish priest of Saint Kisito in Nima, in the archdiocese of Accra, Ghana (2006-2007). He then studied for a licentiate in psychology of education and development at the Salesian Pontifical University of Rome (2007-2011). After serving as formator in the seminaries of Parakou and Djimé (2011-2012), he returned to Rome to study for a doctorate in psychology of education at the Salesian Pontifical University (2012-2015). In Italy he was pastoral assistant of the pastoral unit of Gualdo-Montecodruzzo and Borello, in the diocese of Cesena-Sarsina (2012-2014) and parish priest of Piavola, San Romano, Pieve Rivoschio and Giaggiolo, in the diocese of Cesena-Sarsina (2014-2017). He studied for a doctorate in applied psychology at the University of Paris, as a researcher in Rome and in Benin (2015-2020), and went on to serve as parish priest of Saint François d’Assise in Lanta, in the diocese of Lokossa (2017-2021). Since 2021, he has been rector of the Saint Paul Major Seminar in Djimé and chaplain of the technical high school of Bohicon.

 

Appointment of bishop of Tricarico, Italy, and union in persona Episcopi of the dioceses of Matera-Irsina and Tricarico

The Holy Father has appointed Archbishop Antonio Giuseppe Caiazzo of Matera-Irsina, and until now apostolic administrator of Tricarico, as bishop of Tricarico, Italy, uniting the two sees in persona Episcopi.

Curriculum vitae

Archbishop Antonio Giuseppe Caiazzo was born on 7 April 1956 in Isola Capo Rizzuto, in the archdiocese of Crotone-Santa Severina. He was awarded a bachelor’s degree in theology from the San Pio X Calabrian Theological Institute of Catanzaro and a doctorate in sacred liturgy from the Saint Anselm Pontifical Liturgical Institute in Rome.

He was ordained a priest on 10 October 1981, and incardinated in the archdiocese of Crotone-Santa Severina.

He has held the following offices: parish vicar of Santa Caterina da Siena in Rome (1981-1983); episcopal delegate for evangelization (1995-1996); vicar forane (1996-2000); director of the diocesan Vocations Centre (2005-2006); rector of the diocesan minor seminary (2005-2008); director of the diocesan and regional Liturgical Office (1996-2010); parish priest of San Paolo Apostolo in Crotone; episcopal vicar for the clergy and consecrated life.

In addition, he is a member of the diocesan Commission for Religious Art, the College of Consultors, and the Presbyteral Council, and is a lecturer in sacred liturgy at the San Pio X Calabrian Theological Institute of Catanzaro and at the Diocesan Institute of Religious Sciences in Crotone.

He was elected to the archepiscopal see of Matera-Irsina on 12 February 2016, and received episcopal consecration the following 2 April.

Since 10 February 2023 he has also served as apostolic administrator of Tricarico.

Within the Italian Episcopal Conference he is a member of the Episcopal Commission for the Liturgy and chair of the Committee for national Eucharistic congresses.

 

Appointment of bishop of Temuco, Chile

The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Jorge Enrique Concha Cayuqueo, O.F.M., of Osorno, as bishop of Temuco, Chile.

Curriculum vitae

Bishop Jorge Enrique Concha Cayuqueo, O.F.M., was born on 8 June 1958 in Carahue, in the diocese of Temuco. After completing his studies in philosophy and theology at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, he was awarded a doctorate in social sciences from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. On 23 December 1983 he gave his solemn vows in the Franciscan Order of Friars Minor for the province of Chile, and received priestly ordination on 20 December 1986.

He has held the following offices: master of Friars of temporary profession; provincial secretary for formation and studies; parish vicar in various parishes; Guardian of the San Felipe de Jesús House of Formation in Santiago; commissioner of the Holy Land in Chile; provincial minister of the Franciscan Province of the Most Holy Trinity of Chile and president of the Conference of Provincial Ministers of the Southern Cone (Argentina, Paraguay and Chile) and first vice president of the Conference of Religious in Chile.

On 14 July 2015, he was appointed titular bishop of Carpi and auxiliary of the archdiocese of Santiago de Chile. He received episcopal consecration on the following 25 December.

On 11 June 2018 he was appointed apostolic administrator sede vacante et ad nutum Sanctae Sedis of Osorno, and on 5 February 2020 he was appointed bishop of the same see.

 

Appointment of auxiliary bishop of Legnica, Poland

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Piotr Wawrzynek, of the clergy of the archdiocese of Wrocław, hitherto parish priest of Saint Hedwig of Silesia in Wrocław - Leśnica, as auxiliary of the diocese of Legnica, Poland, assigning him the titular see of Rusuccuru.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Piotr Wawrzynek was born on 25 April 1970 in Wrocław. After completing his philosophical and theological studies at the major seminary in Wrocław, he was ordained a priest on 27 May 1995 for the same archdiocese.

Following ordination, he first served as vicar in the parish of Saint Mary Magdalene in Ścinawka Średnia (1995-1997) and in the parish of the Holy Family in Wrocław (1997-2003). He then studied for a licentiate in Theology at the Pontifical Theological Faculty in Wrocław. He went on to serve as archdiocesan head of youth ministry (2003-2010) and to carry out pastoral activity in the parish of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Piasek (2010-2015). He served as administrator (2017-2021), since 2021, parish priest of Saint Hedwig of Silesia in Wrocław-Leśnica; and since 2021, dean of the Wrocław-West Deanery.

The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Claudio Giuliodori, emeritus of the diocese of Macerata-Tolentino-Recanati-Cingoli-Treia and general ecclesiastical assistant of the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart, as general ecclesiastical assistant of Italian Catholic Action.

The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Bertram Johannes Meier of Augsburg, Germany, as member of the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity.

The Holy Father has appointed Archbishop Robert Francis Prevost, O.S.A., prefect of the Dicastery for Bishops, as member of: the Dicastery for Evangelization, in the Section for first Evangelization and the new particular Churches; the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith; the Dicastery for the Eastern Churches, the Dicastery for the Institutes of Consecrated Life and the Societies of Apostolic Life; and the Dicastery for Culture and Education.
