The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the archdiocese of Urbino-Urbania-Sant’Angelo in Vado, Italy, presented by Archbishop Giovanni Tani.
The Holy Father has appointed Archbishop Sandro Salvucci, metropolitan archbishop of Pesaro, as archbishop of Urbino-Urbania-Sant’Angelo in Vado, Italy, uniting the two sees in persona Episcopi.
Curriculum vitae
Archbishop Sandro Salvucci was born on 3 April 1965 in Macerata. Since youth he has belonged to the Focolare Movement.
He was awarded a bachelor’s degree in theology from the Archepiscopal Seminary of Fermo and subsequently a licentiate in moral theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University as a resident of the Almo Collegio Capranica.
He was ordained a priest on 25 September 1993 for the archdiocese of Fermo, and incardinated in the same archdiocese.
He has held the following offices: parish vicar of Santissima Annunziata a Porto Sant’Elpidio (1994-1999); since 1995, lecturer in moral theology at the Istituto Teologico Marchigiano and the Higher Institute of Religious Sciences in Fermo; since 1998, director of the diocesan vocations centre; director of the diocesan Committee for the Permanent Diaconate (1999-2006); spiritual animator of the Villa Nazareth Fermo diocesan centre (2001-2006); member of the College of Consultors (2004-2012); rector of the Archepiscopal Seminary of Fermo (2006-2014).
In addition, he has also served as parish priest of the pastoral unit of Montegranaro, teacher of moral theology at the Istituto Teologico Marchigiano and animator and head of the diocesan Movement of the Opera di Maria (Focolare Movement).
He was appointed metropolitan archbishop of Pesaro on 12 March 2022, and received episcopal consecration the following 1 May.
Within the Episcopal Conference of the Marches, he is bishop delegate for youth pastoral ministry.
