Resignation of archbishop of Kananga, Democratic Republic of the Congo

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the archdiocese of Kananga, Democratic Republic of the Congo, presented by Archbishop Marcel Madila Basanguka.

 

Resignation and appointment of bishop of Parintins, Brazil

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Parintins, Brazil, presented by Bishop Giuliano Frigeni, P.I.M.E.

The Holy Father has appointed Bishop José Albuquerque de Araújo as bishop of the diocese of Parintins, Brazil, transferring him from the titular see of Altava and the office of auxiliary of Manaus.

Curriculum vitae

Bishop Jose Albuquerque de Araújo was born on 17 July 1968 in Manaus, in the archdiocese of the same name, in the State of Amazonas. He carried out his studies in philosophy at the Catholic University of Brasilia (1989-1991), and in theology at the Centro de Estudos do Comportamento Humano in Manaus-AM (1992-1995). He was subsequently awarded a licentiate in dogmatic theology, with specialization in liturgy, from the Pontifical Faculty Nossa Senhora da Assunção in São Paulo (1996-1997). He also attended the school for formators in São Paulo (1996-1997).

He received priestly ordination on 4 August 1996, and was incardinated in the archdiocese of Manaus.

He has held the following roles: parish administrator of Santa Luzia, Imaculado Coração de Maria, São Lázaro and São Francisco de Assis; coordinator of archdiocesan pastoral vocational ministry; formator of students of philosophy; prefect of studies in theology and lecturere at the Instituto de Teologia Pastoral e Ensino Superior da Amazônia (ITEPES); parish priest of the Cathedral of Nossa Senhora da Conceição; rector of the São José archdiocesan seminary.

On 16 March he was appointed as titular bishop of Altava and auxiliary of the archdiocese of Manaus, receiving episcopal ordination the following 19 June.

Within the National Conference of Bishops of Brazil, he is a member of the episcopal Commission for Ordained Ministers and Consecrated Life.

 

Appointment of auxiliary bishop of Brasilia, Brazil

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Antônio Aparecido de Marcos Filho, of the clergy of the diocese of São Carlos, until now rector of the theology seminary, as auxiliary bishop of the archdiocese of Brasilia, Brazil, assigning him the titular see of Centenaria.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Antônio Aparecido de Marcos Filho was born on 5 August 1966 in Ibaté, in the diocese of São Carlos.

He carried out his studies in philosophy at the Instituto Santo Tomás de Aquino in São Carlos (1993-1995) and in theology at the Pontifícia Universidade Católica of Campinas (1996-1999).

He was ordained a priest on 10 September 1999, and incardinated in the diocese of São Carlos.

He has held the following offices: parish administrator of Nossa Senhora do Vale in Araraquara-SP; parish vicar of São Geraldo in Araraquara-SP, São Nicolau in São Carlos-SP and Nossa Senhora Aparecida in São Carlos-SP; parish priest of Divino Espírito Santo in Dois Córregos-SP, Nossa Senhora Aparecida in Américo Brasiliense-SP, São João Batista in Bocaina-SP, Santana in Araraquara-SP and São Sebastião e Santa Efigênia in Brotas-SP.

He ha salso served as spiritual director and then rector of the preparatory seminary, spiritual director of the philosophy seminary, member of the Presbyteral Council, the Council of Consultors and the diocesan Commission for the Protection of Minors and the Vulnerable.

He is currently rector of the theology seminary.
