The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Porto Nacional, Brazil, presented by Bishop Romualdo Matias Kujawski.
The Pope has appointed Bishop José Moreira da Silva as bishop of Porto Nacional, Brazil, transferring him from the see of Januária.
Curriculum vitae
Bishop Moreira da Silva was born on 8 June 1953 in Ponte Alta do Tocatins, in the diocese of Porto Nacional, in the state of Tocantins. He carried out his studies in philosophy and theology in the Santo Antônio Seminary of Juiz de For a (1976-1981).
He received priestly ordination on 17 January 1982 and was incardinated in the diocese of Porto Nacional.
He has held the following offices: parish vicar of Nossa Senhora dos Remédios in Arraias-TO (1982-1984); parish priest of Nossa Senhora da Conceição in Campos Belo-GO (1984-1996), di Nossa Senhora D’Abadia in Gurupi-TO (1996-1999), of the Cathedral of Nossa Senhora das Mercês (1999-2006), of Nossa Senhora D’Abadia in Taguatinga-TO (2006-2007) and of Santo Antônio in Guripi-TO (2008).
In addition, he has served as parish administrator of Nossa Senhora Aparecida in Combinado-TO (2006-2007), vice rector of the minor seminary, diocesan pastoral coordinator, and member of the College of Consultors, the Presbyteral Council and the diocesan Council for Economic Affairs.
On 12 November 2008 he was appointed as bishop of Januária and received episcopal ordination on 17 January 2009.

The Holy Father has appointed Bishop José Carlos Souza Campos of Divinópolis as metropolitan archbishop of Montes Claros, Brazil.
Curriculum vitae
Bishop José Carlos Souza Campos was born on 3 March 1968 in Itaúna, in the diocese of Divinópolis, state of Minas Gerais. He carried out his studies in philosophy at the Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais in Belo Horizonte-MG (1986-1988), and in theology at the Coração Eucarístico de Jesus Provincial Seminary in Belo Horizonte-MG (1989-1992). He was then awarded a licentiate in fundamental theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome (2000-2002).
He received priestly ordination on 30 May 1993 and was incardinated in the diocese of Divinópolis.
He has held the following offices: diocesan coordinator of pastoral catechetics; parish vicar of Nossa Senhora da Guia in Divinópolis-MG; parish administrator of São Judas Tadeu in Divinópolis-MG; parish priest of Senhor Bom Jesus in Pedra do Indaiá-MG, of Nossa Senhora Aparecida in Divinópolis-MG, of Nossa Senhora de Fátima in Itaúna-MG, of Sant’Ana in Itaúna-MG and of the Cathedral; chancellor; teacher of philosophy and fundamental theology; representative of presbyters; member of the Council of Formators, the Presbyteral Council and the College of Consultors; vicar general and diocesan administrator.
On 26 February he was appointed bishop of Divinópolis and received priestly ordination the following 25 May.
He is currently president of the Regional Leste 2 of the National Conference of Bishops of Brazil, which includes the ecclesiastical circumscriptions of the state of Minas Gerais.
Appointment of bishop of Sikasso, Mali
The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Robert Cissé, of the clergy of the diocese of Sikasso, Mali, until now interim rector of the Saint Augustin major seminary of Bamako, as bishop of the diocese of Sikasso, Mali.

Bishop Robert Cissé was born on 7 July 1968 in Bamako. He studied philosophy at the Saint Augustin Major Seminary in Bamako and theology at the Saint Pierre Claver Major Seminary of Koumi, in Burkina Faso.
He was ordained a priest on 10 July 1993 in Koutiala, and was incardinated in the diocese of Sikasso.
After ordination, he first held the following offices: parish vicar in Kimparana (1993-1995); parish vicar of Fanterela (1995-1997); chair of the Diocesan Commission for Vocations (1993-1998); parish priest in solidum and moderator of the parish of Sikasso (1997-2000) and, at the same time, chaplain of the laity (1997-1999); and educator at the Moyen Seminaire Pie XII in Koulikoro, Bamaka (2000-2002). He was then awarded a licentiate in philosophy from the Pontifical Urban University in Rome (2002-2004). He went on to serve as parish priest of Notre Dame d’Afrique in Koutiala, member of the Episcopal Council and chair of the Diocesan Commission for Education (2004-2009); national director of the Pontifical Mission Society in Mali (2005-2011); vicar general and member of the Council for Economic Affairs (2006-2009); secretary general of the Union of Priests of Mali (2009-2012); and director of the philosophate of the Saint Augustin Major Seminary of Bamako (2010-2012). He attended the Pontifical Urban University of Rome from 2012 to 2017, obtaining a doctorate in philosophy, after which he served as dean of the faculty of philosophy of the Catholic University of West Africa (UCAO), Bamako, and, since 2021, interim rector of the Saint Augustin Major Seminary of Bamako.
Erection of the diocese of Wukari, Nigeria, and appointment of first bishop
The Holy Father has erected the new diocese of Wukari, Nigeria, with territory taken from the diocese of Jalingo, making it a suffragan of the metropolitan see of Jos.
The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Mark Maigida Nzukwein, until now rector of Saint Augustine’s Major Seminary in Jos, as the first bishop of Wukari.

Msgr. Mark Maigida Nzukwein was born on 15 July 1969 in Jenuwa Nyifiye, diocese of Jalingo. He completed his studies in philosophy at the Saint Thomas Aquinas Major Seminary in Makurdi (1987-1990), and in theology at Saint Augustine’s Major Seminary in Jos (1991-1995).
He was ordained a priest on 15 July 1995 for the clergy of the diocese of Jalingo.
Following ordination, he held the following offices: parish vicar of the former Saint Augustine Cathedral in Jalingo (1995-1998); diocesan chaplain for youth (1996-1997); secretary to the bishop and diocesan director of the Pontifical Mission Societies (1996-1998), and parish priest of Saint John in Mutum-Biyu (1998-1999). He then studied for a licentiate in catechesis and youth pedagogy at the Salesian Pontifical University of Rome (1999-2002). He went on to serve as rector of the Sacred Heart Minor Seminary in Jalingo (2002-2016), and vicar general of the same diocese (2008-2016). In 2013, he attended a course for formators of major seminaries in the Regina Apostolorum Pontifical Athenaeum in Rome. Since 2016, he has served as rector of Saint Augustine’s Major Seminary in Jos.
