Appointment of adjunct secretary of the Dicastery for Evangelization

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Emilio Nappa, until now official of the Secretariat for the Economy, as adjunct secretary of the Dicastery for Evangelization with the office of president of the Pontifical Mission Societies, conferring to him the title of Archbishop and assigning him the titular see of Satrianum.

Curriculum vitae

Archbishop-elect Emilio Nappa was born on 9 August 1972 in Naples. He was ordained a priest for the diocese of Aversa on 28 June 1997. He was awarded a doctorate in theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University in 2004. He has held various offices in the diocese, including rector of the Church of San Rocco, director and full professor of fundamental theology at the Interdiocesan Ss. Apostoli Pietro e Paolo Higher Institute of Religious Sciences, Caserta Area, in Capua, and canon of the Cathedral. In addition, he has been a local collaborator in the apostolic nunciature in Italy and official of the Section for General Affairs of the Secretariat of State. Since September 2022 he has served as an official of the Secretariat for the Economy.

 

Resignation and appointment of bishop of Coroico, Bolivia

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Coroico, Bolivia, presented by Bishop Juan Vargas Aruquipa.

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Fr. Juan Carlos Huaygua Oropeza, O.P., until now parish priest of Santo Domingo in the archdiocese of Santa Cruz de la Sierra, as bishop of the diocese of Coroico, Bolivia.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Juan Carlos Huaygua Oropeza, O.P., was born on 11 June 1972 in La Paz. He entered the Santa Cruz de la Sierra Seminary, and studied philosophy and theology at the Higher Institute of Theological Studies (ISET) in Cochabamba, where he was awarded a bachelor’s degree. He entered the Order of Preachers, and carried out his novitiate in Chiquinquirá, Colombia, giving his religious vows on 9 July 1997.

He received priestly ordination on 31 January 2003.

He has held the following offices: parish vicar of Nuestra Señora de la Asunta in Pampa Grande, Santa Cruz (2003-2010); founder of Radio ACER; parish collaborator of Santo Domingo in Santa Cruz de la Sierra (2010-2014); and parish priest and rector of the archdiocesan Purísima Concepción Shrine in Cotoca, Santa Cruz (2014-2022). Since 2022 he has served as parish priest of Santo Domingo in Santa Cruz de la Sierra.

 

Appointment of delegate of the Pontifical Committee of Historical Sciences

The Holy Father has appointed Msgr. Carlos Alberto de Pinho Moreira Azevedo, until now delegate of the former Pontifical Council for Culture, as delegate of the Pontifical Committee of Historical Sciences.
