Resignation of vicar apostolic of Pilcomayo, Paraguay

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the apostolic vicariate of Pilcomayo, Paraguay, presented by Bishop Lucio Alfert, O.M.I.

 

Erection of the diocese of Borba and appointment of first bishop, Brazil

The Holy Father has elevated the territorial prelature of Borba, Brazil, to the grade of diocese.

The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Zenildo Luiz Pereira da Silva, C.SS.R., until now bishop prelate, as the first bishop of the diocese of Borba, Brazil.

Curriculum vitae

Bishop Zenildo Luiz Pereira da Silva was born on 6 June 1968 in Linhares, in the diocese of Colatina, Espírito Santo. After moving to Cacoal, in the State of Rondônia, he made his religious vows on 27 December 1997 in the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer (Redemptorists) and was ordained a priest on 11 August 2001 in Cacoal.

He attended the CENESCH - Centro de Estudos do Comportamento Humano, in Manaus (1994-2000), studying philosophy and theology.

He has held the following offices: parish priest of Nossa Senhora de Nazaré in Manacapuru, diocese of Coari (2001-2008); parish priest of Nossa Senhora do Perpétuo Socorro in Manaus (2008-2011); superior of the Redemptorist Vice-Province of Amazonia (2011-2014); and parish priest of the Cathedral of Santana e São Sebastião, in Coari (2014-2016).

On 24 February 2016 he was appointed bishop prelate coadjutor of Borba, receiving episcopal ordination on the following 2 April. Since 20 September 2017, he has served as bishop prelate of Borba.

 

Appointment of bishop of Rieti, Italy

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Vito Piccinonna, of the clergy of the diocese of Bari-Bitonto, episcopal vicar for charity, parish priest-rector of the Shrine of the Santi Medici and president of the Opera Santi Medici Foundation of Bitonto.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Vito Piccinonna was born on 1 June 1977 in Palombaio, in the archdiocese of Bari-Bitonto.

He was ordained a priest on 3 September 2002.

He was awarded a bachelor’s degree in sacred theology from the Istituto Regina Apuliae of the Apulian Theological Faculty in Molfetta, and subsequently a licentiate in dogmatic theology.

He has held the following offices: parish vicar of Maria Ss. Annunziata in Modugno (2002-2005), spiritual father of the archepiscopal seminary of Bari-Bitonto (2005-2013), diocesan assistant for the Youth Sector of Catholic Action (2005-2011), national ecclesiastical assistant for the Youth Section of Italian Catholic Action (2008-2013), and director of the Caritas office of the archdiocese of Bari-Bitonto (2013-2022). From 2015 to the present he has served as parish priest of Santi Medici Cosma e Damiano in Bitonto, rector of the Shrine of the same name, president of the Opera Santi Medici Onlus Foundation of Bitonto, and spiritual assistant of the Lorusso Cipparoli Therapeutic Community.

He is regional delegation of the Network of National Shrines and, since 2022, episcopal vicar for charity.
