Resignation and appointment of bishop of Civita Castellana, Italy

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Civita Castellana, Italy, presented by Bishop Romano Rossi.

The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Marco Salvi, until now titular of Termini Imerese and auxiliary of the archdiocese of Perugia-Città della Pieve.

Curriculum vitae

Bishop Marco Salvi was born on 4 April 1954 in Sansepolcro, in the province of Arezzo. In 1979 he graduated in architecture and civil engineering from the University of Florence. After obtaining a bachelor’s degree in theology from the Seminary-Theological Faculty of Florence, he was ordained a priest on 28 May 1983 for the diocese of Arezzo.

He has held the following offices: pastoral ministry in various parishes; architect-engineer for the renovation of holy buildings; teacher of religion and art history; parish priest of Galbino in Anghiari (1983-1984) and of Tavernelle in Anghiari (1984-1999); provost of the parish of San Bartolomeo in Anghiari (1999-2019); rector of the Shrine of Our Lady of Carmine and coordinator of the pastoral unit.

From 1993 to 2003, he was chair of the Diocesan Institute for the Support of the Clergy of the diocese of Arezzo.

On 15 February 2019 he was elected titular bishop of Termini Imerese and auxiliary of the archdiocese of Perugia-Città della Pieve, receiving episcopal consecration the following 31 March.

He is secretary of the Umbrian Episcopal Conference.

 

Resignation and appointment of bishop of Rafaela, Argentina

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Rafaela, Argentina, presented by Bishop Luis Alberto Fernández.

The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Pedro Javier Torres, until now titular of Castello di Numidia and auxiliary of the archdiocese of Córdoba.

Curriculum vitae

Bishop Pedro Javier Torres was born on 31 December in Córdoba. After studying philosophy and theology at the Nuestra Señora de Loreto Major Seminary of Córdoba, he was awarded a licentiate in moral theology at the Alphonsianum Academy in Rome.

He was ordained a priest on 6 December 1984.

He has held the following offices: teacher, formator and rector of the Nuestra Señora de Loreto Major Seminary; parish vicar of San Juan Bosco, parish priest of La Resurrección del Señor y Nuestra Señora de Pompeya, Nuestra Señora de Luján y San FermínMaría Madre del Redentor y los Santos Juan y Pablo and Nuestra Señora del Valle; member of the Interreligious Committee for Peace; member of the College of Consultors; and diocesan spokesperson in the mass media regarding bioethics, ecumenism and interreligious dialogue. On 16 November 2013 he was appointed titular bishop of Castellum in Numidia and auxiliary of the archdiocese of Córdoba. He received episcopal ordination on 27 December 2013.

He is currently chair of the Episcopal Commission for ecumenism, relations with Judaism and with other religions. In addition, he is a member of the Council for Economic Affairs of the Argentine Episcopal Conference.

 

Appointment of bishop of Ambanja, Madagascar

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Fr. Donatien Francis Randriamalala, M.S., until now parish priest of Notre Dame de la Salette and vicar general of the diocese of Morondava, as bishop of the diocese of Ambanja, Madagascar.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Donatien Francis Randriamalala, M.S., was born on 6 January 1971 in Antsirabé. He studied law at the University of Antananarivo. In 1992 he was admitted to the Studentate of the Congregation of the Missionaries of Our Lady of La Salette (Salettians). From 1993 to 1995 he completed his postulancy and novitiate and then attended the Saint Paul Apôtre Major Seminary in Antsirabé. He made his perpetual vows on 19 September 2000 and entered the Saint Thérèse de l'Enfant-Jésus Major Seminary in Antananarivo the same year. He was ordained a priest on 19 August 2003 in Antsirabé. In 2010, he obtained a licentiate in theology, with a specialization in youth ministry, from the Salesian Pontifical University in Rome.

He has held the following positions: head of the missionary district of Avaradrano, in the diocese of Morondava (2003 - 2006); since 2010, parish priest of Notre Dame de la Salette in Morondava and vicar general of the same diocese; and since 2013, director of diocesan radio.
