Appointment of apostolic nuncio in Madagascar and apostolic delegate in the Comoros Islands

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Msgr. Tomasz Grysa, nunciature counsellor, as apostolic nuncio in Madagascar and apostolic delegate in the Comoros Islands, at the same time elevating him to the titular see of Rubicon, with the dignity of archbishop.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Tomasz Grysa was born in Poznań, Poland, on 16 October 1970.

He was ordained a priest on 25 May 1995 and incardinated in the archdiocese of Poznań.

He holds a degree in canon law.

He entered the Holy See Diplomatic Service on 1 July 2001 and subsequently served in the following pontifical representations: Russian Federation, India, Belgium, Mexico, Brazil, Un Permanent Mission (New York), Israel, and the apostolic delegation in Jerusalem and Palestine.

He knows French, English, Italian, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish.

 

Appointment of bishop of Alagoinhas, Brazil

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Francisco de Oliveira Vidal, of the clergy of the diocese of Governador Valadares, until now rector of the diocesan seminary and director of the Theological Institute, as bishop of the diocese of Alagoinhas, Brazil.

Curriculum vitae

Bishop Francisco de Oliveira Vidal was born on 28 April 1964 in Rio Pomba, in the diocese of Governador Valadares, in Minas Gerais. He carried out his studies in philosophy at the Seminário Nordeste of Minas Gerais in Teófilo Otoni-MG and in theology at the Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais in Belo Horizonte-MG (1984—1987), and was subsequently awarded a licentiate in moral theology from the Alphonsianum Academy in Rome (2001-2002).

He received priestly ordination on 1 May 1988, and was incardinated in the diocese of Governador Valadares-MG, where he held the following offices: parish priest of Nossa Senhora de Fátima in Governador Valadares; parish vicar in Ilha; parish priest in Vila Isa; diocesan coordinator for family pastoral care; rector of the seminary of philosophy; coordinator of the Diaconal School; member of the Presbyteral Council, the College of Consultors and the Administration Board; professor at the diocesan seminary; parish priest of the Cathedral; and diocesan pastoral coordinator.

Since February 2020 he has served as rector of the diocesan seminary Nossa Senhora Auxiliadora and director of the Dom Herminio Malzone Hugo Theological Institute.

 

Resignation and appointment of bishop of Machala, Ecuador

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Machala, Ecuador, presented by Bishop Ángel Polivio Sánchez Loaiza.

The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Vicente Horacio Saeteros Sierra as bishop of the diocese of Machala, Ecuador, transferring him from the titular see of Rusuccuru and from the office of auxiliary of the archdiocese of Portoviejo.

Curriculum vitae

Bishop Vicente Horacio Seateros Sierra wasa born on 6 April 1968 in Santa Ana, in the archdiocese of Portoviejo.

He entered the major seminary of Portoviejo, where he attended courses in philosophy and theology. He was ordained a priest on 25 March 2000, and was incardinated in the same archdiocese.

He was awarded a licentiate in Church history at the Pontifical Gregorian University, Rome.

He has held the following offices: parish priest in various parishes; professor, formator and rector of the archdiocesan seminary; episcopal vicar of the Nord-Chone zone, and vicar general. On 16 May 2020 he was appointed as titular bishop of Rusuccuru and auxiliary of Portoviejo, receiving episcopal ordination the following 15 August.
