The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Luc Meyer, of the clergy of the diocese of Laval, until now vicar general, as bishop of Rodez, France.
Curriculum vitae
Msgr. Luc Meyer was born on 13 September 1968 in La Ferté-Macé, in the diocese of Séez. He studied classical letters at the Université Catholique de l’Ouest in Angers, and history of Christianity at the Université Paris IV – Sorbonne, subsequently teaching in Rennes, Le Mans, Angers and Tours, before entering the Séminaire des Carmes in Paris. In 2000 he was awarded a licentiate in dogmatic theology and, in 2006, a higher diploma in theological studies from the Institut Catholique de Paris.
He was ordained a priest on 7 May 2000 for the diocese of Laval.
He has held a number of offices and ministries: assistant to the director of Catholic Education and head of school pastoral care (2000-2004); collaborator at La Trinité-Cathédrale-Avesnières-Cordeliers parish in Laval (2000-2007); professor of dogmatic theology (2004-2010) and member of the team of formators of the Saint-Jean Seminary of Nantes (2006-2010); collaborator at the Saint-Pierre – Saint-Vénérand parish in Laval (2007-2010); rector of the Saint-Jean parish in Nantes (2010-2016); diocesan head of formation and spiritual accompaniment; collaborator in the parishes of Doyenné des Pays (2014-2016). From 2016 to date, he has served as vicar general of Laval and administrator of the parish of Saint-Matthieu-sur-Mayenne.
