Appointment of auxiliary bishop of the metropolitan archdiocese of Gdansk, Poland

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Piotr Przyborek, of the clergy of the archdiocese of Gdańsk, Poland, until now director of the diocesan pastoral office, as auxiliary of the same metropolitan archdiocese, assigning him the titular see of Musti in Numidia.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Piotr Przyborek was born on 28 June 1976 in Gdańsk. After completing his studies in philosophy and theology at the major seminary of Gdańsk, he was ordained a priest on 16 June 2001 for the same archdiocese.

Since priestly ordination he has served as vicar in the parish of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Sorrows in Gdynia-Orłowo (2001-2006) and Saint Hedwig of Silesia in Gdynia-Karwiny (2006-2009).

In 2005 he was awarded a licentiate in biblical theology at the Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University in Warsaw, and in 2012, a doctorate from the Theological Faculty of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torún. From 2009 to 2010 he attended specialist courses in sacred scripture at the École Biblique of Jerusalem, and in 2011, he began his teaching activity at the Major Seminary of Gdańsk.

From 2012 to 2014 he was vicar in the parish of Saint John of Kęty in Rumia Janów and from 2014 to 2020 of Saint Mary Mother of the Church and Saint Catherine of Sweden in Gdańsk – Wrzeszcz. From 2020 to 2021 he was vicar in the parish of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Gdynia.

On 9 June 2020 he was appointed as honorary canon of the Collegial Chapter in Gdynia and in 2021 he became director of the diocesan pastoral office. He is a member of the Diocesan Board for the Ongoing Formation of the Clergy, and of the Presbyteral Council and the Diocesan Pastoral Council.

 

Appointment of under-secretary of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Msgr. Philippe Curbelié, until now office head in the Dicastery for Culture and Education, as under-secretary for the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Curbelié was born on 13 August 1968 in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France, and was ordained a priest for the archdiocese of Toulouse on 30 April 1995. At the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome he was awarded a licentiate in philosophy and a doctorate in dogmatic theology. In his archdiocese he has held the following offices: parish vicar, spiritual director of the Séminaire Universitaire Pie XI and the Séminaire Saint Cyprien, professor of dogmatic theology at the Institut Catholique, where he was also dean of the Faculty of Theology. He was formerly a member of the Governing Council of the Holy See Agency for the Evaluation and Promotion of Quality in Ecclesiastical Universities and Faculties. Since September 2012 he has served as an official of the Dicastery for Culture and Education, where he has been office head since 2014.
