Resignation and appointment of archbishop of Aix, France

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the archdiocese of Aix, France, presented by Archbishop Christophe Dufour.

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Christian Delarbre, of the clergy of the archdiocese of Auch, until now rector of the Institut Catholique de Toulouse, as archbishop of Aix, France.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Christian Delarbre was born on 5 September 1964 in Châlons-en-Champagne in the diocese of Châlons. After completing his studies in engineering at the École Centrale de Lyon, he spent two years of cooperation in Togo before entering the Archdiocesan Seminary in Toulouse.

He pursued his ecclesiastical studies at the Institut Catholique de Toulouse.

He was ordained a priest on 19 May 1996 for the archdiocese of Auch and continued his studies at the same institute, obtaining a doctorate in theology.

He has held the following positions: parish vicar of L'Isle-Jourdain and youth chaplain (1996-2006); episcopal vicar for youth pastoral care and member of the episcopal council (2006-2012); parish priest of L'Isle-Jourdain (2007-2012); vicar general of Auch (2013-2018); and head of the formation of permanent deacons of the ecclesiastical province of Toulouse (2013-2018). Since 1996 he has served as lecturer in ecclesiology at the Institut Catholique de Toulouse, and from 2018 to date, rector of the Institut Catholique de Toulouse.
