Resignation and appointment of bishop of Sanggau, Indonesia

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Sanggau, Indonesia, presented by Bishop Giulio Mencuccini, C.P.

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Fr. Valentinus Saeng, C.P., until now director of the Passionist House of Spirituality in Malang, as bishop of the same diocese.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Valentinus Saeng, C.P., was born on 28 October 1969 in Keramuk, diocese of Sanggau. He attended the Saint Gabriel Passionist Minor Seminary in Sekadau. He entered the Congregation of the Passion of Jesus Christ (Passionists) in 1989, and carried out his studies in philosophy and theology at the interdiocesan major seminary of Malang, Java. He gave his religious vows on 22 August 1996.

He was ordained a priest on 26 September 1998.

He was awarded a licentiate (1999-2001) and a degree in philosophy (2005-2009) from the Pontifical University of Saint Thomas Aquinas – Angelicum in Rome. He then served as formator and vice superior of Passionist postulants and novices (2001-2004); teacher in the Widya Sasana high school in Malang (2002-2004 and again from 2009); member of the Commission for the formation of Passionists in Indonesia (2009-2011); superior of the Passionist Student Body in Malang (2009-2013); and translator of official documents of the major Superior Passionists (2011-2012 and from 2019). From 2016 to date he has served as director of the Passionist House of Spirituality in Malang.

Additionally, since 2001 he has been a member of the Commissions for the formation of the Congregation of Passionists in the Asia-Pacific Region. He has also a visiting professor at the Faculty of Philosophy of the Widya Mandala Catholic University of Surabaya, and at the Saint Thomas Catholic University of Medan.

 

Appointment of bishop of Tarma, Peru

The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Timoteo Solórzano Rojas, M.S.C., as bishop of the diocese of Tarma, Peru, transferring him from the titular see of Dumio and the office of auxiliary of the archdiocese of Trujillo.

Curriculum vitae

Bishop Timoteo Solózano Rojas, M.S.C., was born on 24 January 1969 in Chucos, diocese of Huari. After completing his primary and secondary studies in Huantar, he entered the Congregation of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart, and carried out his philosophical and theological studies in Lima (1988-1996). He subsequently attended various specialization courses for religious formation in Guatemala, completing his novitiate in the Dominican Republic. He gave his first vows on 15 August 1990, and his perpetual vows on 15 August 1998. He was ordained a priest on 9 January 2001.

He has held the following offices: coordinator of vocational pastoral care of the M.S.C. (1999-2001); parish vicar of the archdiocese of Trujillo (2001-2001); parish priest of the archdiocese of Ayacucho (2003-2004); parish priest in the archdiocese of Lima (2005-2007); parish priest of San Pablo and dean of pastoral zone in the archdiocese of Trujillo (2007-2010); parish priest of San Pablo and vicar forane of the archdiocese of Trujillo (2007-2010); director for Formation in the Seminary of the Province of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart in Peru, and parish collaborator in the Church of San Felipe in Lima (2011-2018). Parish priest of Santiago Apóstol and promotor of the parish College in Acari in the territorial prelature of Caravelí (2018).

In addition, on 6 November 2018 he was elected as titular bishop of Dumio and auxiliary of Trujillo, and received episcopal ordination on 5 January 2019.

 

Appointment of special envoy to the closing celebrations for the centenary of the coronation of the image of Nuestra Señora de la Altagracia (Dominican Republic, 15 August 2022)

The Holy Father has appointed Archbishop Edgar Peña Parra, Substitute for General Affairs of the Secretariat of State, as his special envoy to the closing celebrations for the centenary of the coronation of the image of Nuestra Señora de la Altagracia, to be held in the Marian shrine of the same name in the Dominican Republic on 15 August 2022.
