Resignation and appointment of bishop of Brno, Czech Republic

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Brno, Czech Republic, presented by Bishop Vojtěch Cikrle.

The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Pavel Konzbul as bishop of the diocese of Brno, Czech Republic, transferring him from the titular see of Litomyšl and from the office of auxiliary of the diocese of Brno.

Curriculum vitae

Bishop Pavel Konzbul was born on 17 October 1965 in Brno-Juliánov.

In 1989, he graduated from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the Brno University of Technology. He worked at the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic in Brno where he obtained a doctorate in electromagnetic field theory.

He then entered the major seminary in Olomouc and, after completing his philosophical-theological studies, he was ordained a priest on 28 June 2003, and incardinated in the diocese of Brno.

He served as parish vicar in Letovice, Boskovice and Hustopeče u Brna (2003-2005) and spiritual father of the Episcopal Lyceum in Brno (2005-2013); parish priest of the Cathedral and Canon of the Royal Chapter of Saints Peter and Paul in Brno, and member of the Presbyteral Council.

On 21 May 2016 he was appointed titular bishop of Litomyšl and auxiliary of the diocese of Brno. He received episcopal consecration on the following 29 June.
