Election of archbishop of Hassaké-Nisibi of the Syrians, Syria

The Holy Father has granted his assent to the election by the Synod of Bishops of the Patriarchal Church of Antioch of the Syrians of the Reverend Chorbishop Joseph Abdel-Jalil Chami as archbishop of Hassaké-Nisibi, Syria.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Joseph Abdel-Jalil Chami was born on 15 August 1959 in Zahlé, Lebanon.

In 1972 he entered the seminary and in 1982 he completed his studies at the Saint-Esprit University in Kaslik, Lebanon.

He was ordained a priest on 21 June 1987, and until 1992 he held the role of treasurer of the Charfet Seminary. He then exercised his ministry as a parish priest in various parishes: Sainte Therese in Zahlé, the Cathedral of the Annunciation in Beirut, Saint Anthony the Great in Jounieh and Saints Behnam and Sara at al Fanar, at the same time holding the office of promotor of justice and notary at the Patriarchal Court of First Instance.

On 13 October 2019, he was appointed as patriarchal administrator of the archeparchy of Hassaké-Nisibi, Syria, and on 18 June 2017 he was ordained chorbishop.

Besides Arabic, he knows French and English.

The Holy Father has granted his assent to the election by the Synod of Bishops of the Patriarchal Church of Antioch of the Syrians of the Reverend Chorbishop Elie Joseph Warde as bishop of the eparchy of Cairo of the Syrians and patriarchal vicar for Sudan and South Sudan.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Elie Joseph Warde was born on 28 September 1977 in Haddad-Beirut, Lebanon. In 1998 he entered the Charfet Seminary in Lebanon, and then attended the Saint-Esprit University in Kaslik, Lebanon, obtaining a licentiate in theology.

He was ordained a priest on 28 May 2004. In 2007 he was awarded a licentiate in Eastern canon law from the Pontifical Oriental Institute, and in 2015 a doctorate in canon law from the Institut Catholique in Paris.

He was appointed as parish priest of Saint Ephrem in Parish for Syro-Catholic faithful. On 6 October 2019 he was ordained a chorbishop by the Patriarch.

Besides Arabic, he knows French and Italian.

 

Election of bishop of the Patriarchal Curia of Antioch of the Syrians, Lebanon

The Holy Father has granted his assent to the election by the Synod of Bishops of the Patriarchal Church of Antioch of the Syrians of the Reverend Jules Boutros as bishop of the Patriarchal Curia, assigning him the titular see of Amida of the Syriacs.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Jules Boutros was born on 28 December 1982 in Beirut, Lebanon.

He was awarded a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from the Saint-Esprit University of Kaslik, and in theology from the Pontifical Urban University in Rome, specializing in social communication and subsequently obtaining a doctorate in pastoral theology from the Pontifical Salesian University.

He was ordained a priest on 9 June 1007, and went on to hold offices in the field of youth and university pastoral care, before being appointed as rector of the Patriarchal Seminary in 2019.

Besides Arabic, he knows French, Italian and English.
