The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the metropolitan archdiocese of Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia, presented by Archbishop Sergio Alfredo Gualberti Calandrina.
The Holy Father has appointed Bishop René Leigue Cesari as metropolitan archbishop of Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia, transferring him from the titular see of Nepi and the office of auxiliary of the same archdiocese.

Archbishop-elect René Leigue Cesari was born on 24 March 1967 in the Comunidad Nuevo Horizonte, Provincia Warnes, metropolitan archdiocese of Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia.
In 1989, he began his formation for the priesthood in the Espíritu Santo seminary of the diocese of Coroico. After obtaining a bachelor’s degree in philosophy, he carried out his studies in theology at the San José National Major Seminary in Cochabamba, earning a bachelor’s degree at the Higher Institute of Theological Studies (ISET) and completing his formation from 2003 to 2004 at the Alphonsian Academy in Rome, where he obtained a licentiate in moral theology.
He was ordained as a priest on 27 August 1999 for the metropolitan archdiocese of Santa Cruz de la Sierra, where he held the following positions: 1999-2001: parish vicar of the Santísima Trinidad; 2001-2002: parish priest of Cristo Misionero; 2005-2012: parish priest of San José Obrero; 2006-2012: director of studies at the archdiocesan major seminary of San Lorenzo; and 2012: parish priest of Nuestra Señora de Fátima.
On 31 October 2012, he was elected titular bishop of Nepi and auxiliary of Santa Cruz de la Sierra, receiving episcopal ordination on 16 January 2013.
Appointment of coadjutor archbishop of Cali, Colombia
The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Luis Fernando Rodríguez Velásquez, until now titular of Illiberi and auxiliary of the archdiocese of Cali, Colombia, as coadjutor archbishop of the same archdiocese.
Curriculum vitae
Archbishop-elect Luis Fernando Rodríguez Velásquez was born on 8 December 1959 in Medellín, where he completed his philosophical and theological studies at the major seminary. He received a bachelor’s degree in theology and a licentiate in religious education from the Pontifical Bolivarian University, a licentiate in canon law from the Pontifical Lateran University in Rome, and a doctorate from the Pontifical Javeriana University in Bogotá.
He received priestly ordination on 25 August 1984, and was incardinated in the metropolitan archdiocese of Medellín.
He held the following positions: parish vicar of San Blas, formator and vice rector of the major seminary of Medellín, vice chancellor of the metropolitan archdiocese and secretary to the archbishop, parish priest of Santa María la Virgen, official of the Pontifical Council for the Family, parish priest of El Sagrario, deputy judicial vicar of the archdiocesan tribunal; professor, chaplain and rector of the Pontifical Bolivarian University, and vicar general of the metropolitan archdiocese of Medellín.
He was appointed titular bishop of Illiberi and auxiliary of Cali on 5 July 2014 and received episcopal consecration the following 22 August.
Appointment of bishop of Daule, Ecuador
The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Krzysztof Kudlawiec, until now episcopal vicar and diocesan director of the Pontifical Mission Societies in Portoviejo, as bishop of the diocese of Daule, Ecuador.
Curriculum vitae
Msgr. Krzysztof Kudlawiec was born on 19 September 1969 in Gorlice-Glinik Mariampolski, diocese of Rzeszów, Poland. He was awarded a bachelor’s degree in theology from the Pontifical Theological Academy of Krakow.
He received episcopal ordination on 25 May 1995, and was incardinated in the diocese of Rzeszów, where he held the office of parish vicar and subsequently studied missiology.
In 2002 he went on a mission to Ecuador, where he served as head of the organization of the IX National Missionary Congress in Portoviejo.
Until now he has served as parish priest of San Francisco de Asís in Calderón, episcopal vicar, and coordinator of the Pontifical Mission Societies of the metropolitan archdiocese of Portoviejo.
