Resignation and appointment of bishop of Fiesole, Italy

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Fiesole, Italy, presented by Bishop Mario Meini.

The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Stefano Manetti as bishop of Fiesole, Italy, transferring him from the diocese of Montepulciano-Chiusi-Pienza.

Curriculum vitae

Bishop Stefano Manetti was born on 20 April 1959 in Florence, in the province and metropolitan archdiocese of the same name. After completing his high school examinations at the Scientific Lyceum of Scandicci, he attended the archepiscopal seminary from 1978.

He was ordained a priest on 19 April 1984.

After priestly ordination he served as parish vicar of Santa Maria in Coverciano (1984-1987), ecclesiastical assistant of the San Michele youth community (1987-1995). During the same years he was ecclesiastical assistant for the youth sector of Italian Catholic Action, and from 1999, for the sector for adults.

He was parish priest of San Tommaso in Certaldo (1995-2002), also holding the role of teacher of Catholic religion.

In 2002 he was appointed spiritual director of the archepiscopal major seminary, and canon of the Chapter of the Basilica of San Lorenzo.

Since 2005 he has served as rector of the major archepiscopal seminary and head of the diocesan vocations centre. In 2009 he was appointed canon of the Metropolitan Chapter of Santa Maria del Fiore, becoming Honorary Canon of the Laurentian Chapter. He was also a member and coordinator of the Presbyteral Council, and since 2009, of the College of Consultors.

On 31 January 2014, he was appointed bishop of Montepulciano-Chiusi-Pienza and consecrated the following 25 March.

Within the Tuscany Regional Episcopal Conference, he is bishop delegate for the clergy, seminaries and vocations. Within the Italian Episcopal Conference, he is delegate for the seminaries of Italy, member of the Episcopal Commission for the Clergy and Consecrated Life, and member of the Mixed Commission of Bishops - Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life.

 

Appointment of bishop of Facatativá, Colombia

The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Pedro Manuel Salamanca Mantilla, until now titular of Aquae in Mauretania and auxiliary of the metropolitan archdiocese of Bogotá, as bishop of Facatativá, Colombia.

Curriculum vitae

Bishop Pedro Manuel Salamanca Mantilla was born in Bucaramanga on 4 June 1961. He studied philosophy and theology at the major seminary of Bogotá, and was ordained a priest on 30 November 1986 for the clergy of Bogotá, In 1992 he was awarded a licentiate in theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University.

He has served as parish vicar, parish priest, member of the team of formators of the major seminary, and delegate for the permanent formation of the clergy.

On 7 November 2015 he was appointed as titular bishop of Aquae in Mauretania and auxiliary of Bogotá, receiving episcopal ordination the following 12 December, and also holding the office of vicar for pastoral car for the metropolitan archdiocese.

He is currently apostolic administrator of the diocese of Facatativá.

 

Appointment of bishop prelate of Cafayate, Argentina

The Holy Father has appointed Msgr. Darío Rubén Quintana, O.A.R., until now titular of Bavagaliana and auxiliary of Mar del Plata, as bishop prelate of Cafayate, Argentina.

Curriculum vitae

Bishop Darío Rubén Quintana, O.A.R., was born in Buenos Aires on 4 February 1971, and received priestly ordination on 17 May 1997 for the Order of Augustinians Recollect.

He has served as parish vicar, vocational guide of the Order of Augustinians Recollect, rector of San José College in the diocese of San Martín, member of the Synodal Animation Group for the Ist Archdiocesan Synod of Buenos Aires, prior and pastor of several parishes in the dioceses of Buenos Aires and Mar del Plata, prior of San Ezequiel Moreno Seminary of his Order, and parish priest of Nuestra Señora de Lujan in San Martín.

On 5 November 2019 he was appointed titular bishop of Bavagaliana and auxiliary bishop of Mar del Plata, receiving episcopal ordination the following 28 December.
