Appointment of coadjutor archbishop of Zadar, Croatia

The Holy Father has appointed as coadjutor archbishop of the archdiocese of Zadar, Croatia, the Reverend Milan Zgrablić, of the clergy of the diocese of Poreč / Pula, until now parish priest of the Cathedral of Poreč and director of the diocesan Institute for the Support of the Clergy.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Milan Zgrablić was born on 29 August 1960 in Pazin, diocese of Poreč / Pula, He entered the minor seminary of Pazin and, subsequently, that of Zadar. He studied at the Theological Institute of Rijeka and was awarded a licentiate in spirituality from the Pontifical Gregorian University.

He was ordained a priest on 8 June 1986 in Rovinj.

Since priestly ordination he has held the following offices: parish vicar of Rovinj (1986-1987), teacher and catechist at the seminary of Zadar (1987-1990), director of the episcopal House of Pula (1990-1992), director of the House of the College of Pazin (1994-1997), director of diocesan Caritas (1997-2007), parish priest of Rovinj (1997-2015) and head of the diocesan council for vocations and for youth (2003-2019).

He is currently director of the diocesan Institute for the Support of the Clergy (since 2008), and parish priest of the Cathedral of Poreč (since 2015). In addition, he is a member of the pastoral council of the diocese of Poreč / Pula, of the Presbyteral Council, and of the College of Consultors.

 

Appointment of bishop of Matanzas, Cuba

The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Juan Gabriel Díaz Ruiz, as bishop of Matanzas, Cuba, transferring him from the diocese of Ciego of Ávila.

Curriculum vitae

Bishop Juan Gabriel Díaz Ruiz was born on 14 November 1960 in Céspedes, diocese of Camagüey. Before entering the seminary he attended the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the University of Camagüey. He completed his studies in philosophy and theology in the major seminaries of San Basilio Magno in Santiago de Cuba and of San Carlos y San Ambrosio in Havana. He was awarded a licentiate in sacred scripture from the Pontifical Biblical Institute, Rome.

He received priestly ordination on 5 August 1989, and was incardinated in the metropolitan archdiocese of Camagüey.

He has served as parish vicar in the parishes of Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria, Morón, Nuestra Señora del Carmen, Florida and in Nuevitas, where he was also parish priest. In addition, he has been parish priest in Guáimaro, professor at the San Carlos y San Ambrosio Major Seminary, delegate of the clergy of the archdiocese of Camagüey to the National Commission of Priests, diocesan administrator of Camagüey and parish priest of Nuestra Señora del Carmen, Florida.

On 8 July 2017 he was elected as bishop of Ciego de Ávila and received episcopal consecration the following 30 September.

 

Appointment of member of the Congregation for the Clergy

The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Brendan Leahy of Limerick, Ireland, as a member of the Congregation for the Clergy.
