Resignation and appointment of metropolitan archbishop of Owerri, Nigeria

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the metropolitan archdiocese of Owerri, Nigeria, presented by Archbishop Anthony John Valentine Obinna.

The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Lucius Iwejuru Ugorji as archbishop of the same archdiocese, transferring him from the episcopal see of Umuahia.

Archbishop-elect Lucius Iwejuru Ugorji will also remain as apostolic administrator Sede vacante et ad nutum Sanctae Sedis of the diocese of Ahiara.
