This morning, at 10.30, in the Consistory Hall of the Vatican Apostolic Palace, the Holy Father Francis presided over the celebration of Terce and the Ordinary Public Consistory for the Canonization of the following Blessed:
Blessed Titus Brandsma, professed priest of the Carmelite Order, martyr;
Blessed Marie Rivier, founder of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary;
Blessed Mary of Jesus (née Carolina Santocanale), founder of the Congregation of the Capuchin Sisters of the Immaculata of Lourdes;
During the Consistory, the Pope decreed that the Blessed be inscribed in the Book of Saints on Sunday 15 May 2022.
This was followed by the Optatio of nine cardinals from the Diaconal Order to the Presbyteral Order:
At the request of Cardinal Manuel Monteiro de Castro, the diaconate of San Domenico di Guzmán was raised pro hac vice to a presbyteral Title;
At the request of Cardinal Santos Abril y Castelló, the diaconate of San Ponziano was raised pro hac vice to a presbyteral Title;
At the request of Cardinal Antonio Maria Vegliò, the diaconate of San Cesario in Palatio was raised pro hac vice to a presbyteral title;
At the request of Cardinal Giuseppe Bertello, the diaconate of Ss. Vito, Modesto e Crescenzia was raised pro hac vice to a presbyteral title;
At the request of Cardinal Francesco Coccopalmerio, the diaconate of San Giuseppe dei Falegnami was raised pro hac vice to a presbyteral title;
At the request of Cardinal João Braz de Aviz, the diaconate of Santa Elena fuori Porta Prenestina was raised pro hac vice to a presbyteral title;
At the request of Cardinal Edwin Frederick O’Brien, the diaconate of San Sebastiano al Palatino was raised pro hac vice to a presbyteral title;
At the request of Cardinal Domenico Calcagno, the diaconate of l’Annunciazione della Beata Virgine Maria a Via Ardeatina was raised pro hac vice to a presbyteral title;
At the request of Cardinal Giuseppe Versaldi, the diaconate of Sacro Cuore di Gesù a Castro Pretorio was raised pro hac vice to a presbyteral title.
