Appointment of apostolic nuncio in Turkey

The Holy Father has appointed Archbishop Marek Solczyński, titular of Caeasaria in Mauretania, until now apostolic nuncio in Tanzania, as apostolic nuncio in Turkey.

 

Appointment of apostolic nuncio in Mali

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Msgr. Mambé Jean-Sylvain Emien, nunciature counsellor, as apostolic nuncio in Mali, at the same time elevating him to the titular see of Potenza Picena, with the dignity of archbishop.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Mambé Jean-Sylvain Emien was born in Jacqueville, Cote d’Ivoire, on 16 September 1970. He was ordained a priest on 14 December 1997, and incardinated in the diocese of Yopougon, Cote d’Ivoire.

He holds a degree in canon law.

He entered the diplomatic service of the Holy See on 1 July 2005, and served in the pontifical representations in Angola, Nigeria, New Zealand, Spain, the Czech Republic, Guinea and Mali.

He knows French, Italian, English, Spanish and Portuguese.

 

Resignation and appointment of metropolitan archbishop of Trivandrum of the Latins, India

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the metropolitan archdiocese of Trivandrum of the Latins, India, presented by Archbishop Maria Calist Soosa Pakiam.

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Thomas Jessayyan Netto, of the clergy of the same archdiocese and until now parish priest of Saint Augustine’s Church, Murukumpuzha, as archbishop of the same see.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Thomas Jessayyan Netto was born on 29 December 1964 in Puthiyathura, in the metropolitan archdiocese of Trivandrum of the Latins. He carried out his studies in philosophy and theology at Saint Joseph’s Pontifical Seminary, Alwaye. He obtained a diploma in sociology from the Loyola College of Trivandrum. He was awarded a doctorate in dogmatic theology (ecclesiology) at the Pontifical Urban University in Rome.

He was ordained a priest on 19 December 1989.

He has held the following offices: parish vicar in Peringamala (1990-1991) and of the Cathedral of Palayam (1991-1995) and executive secretary for ecumenism and interreligious dialogue (1994-1995). He completed his specialist studies in Rome from 1995 to 1999. He then served as parish priest in Pettah (1999-2003), and executive secretary for the Basic Christian Communities (2000-2004) and rector of Saint Vincent’s Minor Seminary in Trivandrum (2003-2010). Since 2007 he has served as a member of the College of Consultors, director of the Board for Clergy and Religious Life (2008-2010), chargé at Saint Anthony’s Forane Church in Valiayathura (2009-2010), parish priest in Thope, coordinator (2010-2014) and episcopal vicar of Ministers (2014-2018). From 2018 to the present, he has served as parish priest of Saint Augustine’s Church, Murukumpuzha, vicar forane of Kazhakkuttom and editor of the diocesan journal Jeevanum Velichavum; in addition, since 2021 he has been episcopal vicar and coordinator of Ministries.

 

Erection of the dioceses of Daule and of Santa Elena, Ecuador, and appointment of the first bishops

The Holy Father has erected the dioceses of Daule and of Santa Elena, Ecuador, with territory taken from the metropolitan archdiocese of Guayaquil, making them suffragans of the same archdiocese.

The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Giovanni Battista Piccioli, until now titular of Patara and auxiliary of the metropolitan archdiocese of Guayaquil, as first bishop of the diocese of Daula.

The Holy Father has appointedBishop Guido Iván Minda Chalá, until now titular of Nisa in Lycia and auxiliary of the metropolitan archdiocese of Guayaquil, as first bishop of the diocese of Santa Elena.

Curriculum vitae of Bishop Giovanni Battista Piccioli

Bishop Giovanni Battista Piccioli was born on 10 July 1957 in Erbusco, in the diocese of Brescia, Italy, where he studied philosophy and theology at the Episcopal Seminary. He as awarded a licentiate in theology from the Theological Faculty of Emilia Romagna in Bologna.

On 12 June 1982 he was ordained a priest and incardinated in the diocese of Brescia, where he was parish vicar of Santi Nazaro e Celso in Brescia (1982-1987) and Adro Franciacorta (1987-1955), and parish priest of San Vito di Bedizzole (2001-2005).

In 1995 he was sent as a fidei donum priest to Ecuador, where he held the following posts: parish priest of Santa Ana in Santa Ana (Manabí, 1995-1996), Santísima Trinidad del Florón in Portoviejo (1996-2001) and Santa Rosa de Lima in San Vicente (Manabí, 2007-2013). He was also professor of theology at the major seminary of Portoviejo.

On 26 October 2013, he was appointed titular of Patara and auxiliary bishop of the metropolitan archdiocese of Guayaquil, and received episcopal ordination on 8 February 2014.

 

Curriculum vitae of Bishop Guido Iván Minda Chalá

Bishop Guido Iván Minda Chalá was born on 20 February 1960 in San Bartolomé de Apula, in the diocese of Ibarra. He studied philosophy at the Nuestra Señora de la Esperanza Major Seminary in Ibarra, and theology at the University of Navarra, as an alumnus of the Colegio Eclesiástico Internacional Bidasoa in Pamplona (1995-1998). He was awarded a licentiate in philosophy in Pamplona (2004).

He was ordained a priest on 27 June 1998 and incardinated in the diocese of Ibarra, where he held the following positions: parish vicar of the Santísimo Sacramento in Alpachaca (1998-1999); parish priest of La Esperanza and director of the minor seminary of Ibarra (1999-2002); formator and secretary of the major seminary (2004-2005); parish priest of Salinas and professor of philosophy in the seminary of Ibarra (2005-2009); episcopal vicar for clergy, member of the Presbyteral Council and administrator of the parish of La Carolina (2008-2009).

On 4 November 2009 he was appointed titular bishop of Nisa in Lycia and auxiliary bishop of the Guayaquil metropolitan archdiocese, and was ordained a bishop on the following 28 November.

Within the Ecuadorian Episcopal Conference, he is a member of the Commission for Culture.
