Resignation and appointment of vicar apostolic of Makokou, Gabon

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the apostolic vicariate of Makokou, Gabon, presented by Bishop Joseph Koerber, C.S.Sp.

At the same time, he appointed the Reverend Fr. Severin Nziengui Mangandza, C.S.Sp., until now superior general of the Congregation of the Holy Spirit in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea, as vicar apostolic of the same vicariate.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Severin Nziengui Mangandza, C.S.Sp., was born on 21 February 1970 in Libreville.

After obtaining the Baccalaureate (1995-1996), he entered the Congregation of the Holy Spirit. From 1996 to 1999 he studied philosophy, and was awarded a licentiate from the Université Omar Bongo in Libreville, and from 1999 to 2000 he carried out his postulancy in Otélé, Cameroon. From 2000 to 2003 he studied philosophy at the Séminaire Spiritain Daniel Brottier in Libreville, where he obtained his diploma. He attended the novitiate in Mbalmayo (2003-2004) and obtained a licentiate in dogmatic theology at the Université Catholique d'Afrique Centrale in Yaoundé (2004-2007).

He was ordained a priest on 12 July 2008.

After ordination he was first parish vicar of Saint Kisito in Makélékélé, Congo Brazzaville (2008-2011). He then carried out his studies at the Institut Catholique de Paris (2011-2012), and went on to serve as Master of Novices in Mbalmayo, Cameroon (2012-2014); and director of studies and bursar of the Séminaire Spiritain Daniel Brottier in Libreville (2014-2016). From 2016 until now he has been provincial superior of the Congregation of the Holy Spirit C.S.Sp., in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.
