This morning the Holy Father Francis began his 34th Apostolic Journey, this time to Budapest for the conclusion of the 52nd International Eucharistic Congress and in Slovakia.
After leaving the Casa Santa Marta, the Holy Father transferred by car to Rome-Fiumicino International Airport, to depart at 6.00 on board an Alitalia A320 bound for Budapest.
The aircraft landed at Budapest International Airport at 7.45.
Telegram to the President of the Italian Republic
At the moment of leaving Italian territory, the Holy Father Francis sent the following telegram to the President of the Italian Republic, the Honorable Sergio Mattarella:

AS I PREPARE TO LEAVE FOR BUDAPEST ON THE OCCASION OF THE CONCLUDING DAY OF THE INTERNATIONAL EUCHARISTIC CONGRESS, AND THEN TO PROCEED TO SLOVAKIA TO MEET MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS IN THE FAITH AND THE OTHER INHABITANTS OF THAT NATION, I AM PLEASED TO ADDRESS MY CORDIAL THOUGHTS TO YOU, MR PRESIDENT, AND TO THE ENTIRE ITALIAN PEOPLE, WHICH I ACCOMPANY WITH SINCERE WISHES FOR SERENITY AND GENEROUS COMMITMENT TO THE COMMON GOOD.

During the flight to Budapest, on flying through Croatian airspace, the Holy Father sent the following telegram to the President of the Republic, Zoran Milanović:
