Resignation and appointment of bishop of Iztapalapa, Mexico

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Iztapalapa, Mexico, presented by Bishop Jesús Antonio Lerma Nolasco.

The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Jorge Cuapio Bautista, until now titular of Bisarcio and auxiliary of the metropolitan archdiocese of Tlalnepantla, as bishop of Iztapalapa, Mexico.

Curriculum vitae

Bishop Jorge Cuapio Bautista was born in Santa Ana Chiautempan, on 6 April 1967. He was ordained a priest on 15 August 1992 and incardinated in the diocese of Texcoco. He belongs to the Community of the Missionaries of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart. He holds a licentiate in philosophy from the Universidad Popular Autónoma del Estado de Puebla and a licentiate in family sciences from the John Paul II Institute in Rome.

On 4 March 2015 he was appointed titular bishop of Bisarcio and auxiliary of the metropolitan archdiocese of Tlalnepantla, receiving episcopal ordination the following 27 May. 

 

Appointment of bishop of San Andrés Tuxtla, Mexico

The Holy Father has appointed Bishop José Luis Canto Sosa, of the clergy of the diocese of Campeche, until now vicar general and parish priest of La Resurrección, as bishop of San Andrés Tuxtla, Mexico.

Curriculum vitae

Bishop José Luis Canto Sosa was born on 29 October 1960 in Calkiní, diocese of Campeche. He was ordained a priest on 27 December 1996, and incardinated in the same Diocese. He obtained a licentiate in special education and later a licentiate in Church history from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome.

He has held the following offices: prefect of the minor seminary, teacher in the major seminary, director of a diocesan school, parish vicar, pastor of several parishes and spiritual director of the Cursillos de Cristiandad and Comunidad Pan de Vida Movements. To date he has been vicar general, parish priest of La Resurrección and director of the diocesan Interdisciplinary Commission for the Protection of Minors.

 

Appointment of auxiliary bishop of L’Aquila, Italy

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Antonio D'Angelo, of the clergy of the diocese of Termoli-Larino, until now rector of the Pontifical Regional Seminary of Abruzzo-Molise San Pio X, as titular bishop of Cerenza and auxiliary bishop of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of L'Aquila (Italy.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Antonio D'Angelo was born on 2 March 1971 in Castelmauro, Campobasso, diocese of Termoli-Larino. He graduated as an industrial expert and began his university studies in Bologna. He then entered the San Pio X Pontifical Regional Seminary of Abruzzo and Molise in Chieti, where he obtained a bachelor's degree in theology.

He was ordained a priest on 14 September 1996. In 2008 he obtained a licentiate in Pastoral Theology from the Pontifical Lateran University in Rome and in 2018 a diploma from the Higher Institute for Formators at the Pontifical Gregorian University.

He has held the following positions: from 1996 he was parish vicar, parish administrator and parish priest of San Giovanni Battista in Colletorto and from 2005 to 2007 director of diocesan Caritas; in 2005 he became canon of the Co-cathedral Basilica of Larino and in 2007 vice-rector of the Pontifical Regional Seminary Abruzzese-Molisano San Pio X in Chieti; from 2007 to 2012 he was director of the diocesan Vocations Pastoral Office and from 2008 member of the Presbyteral Council; in 2010 he was appointed treasurer of the Regional Seminary. From 2016 until now he has served as rector of the Pontifical San Pio X Regional Seminary Abruzzese-Molisano in Chieti. Since 2018 he has been a member of the Italian Presbyteral Commission of the CEI.
