Resignation of bishop of Civitavecchia-Tarquinia, Italy, and appointment of successor
The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Civitavecchia-Tarquinia, Italy, presented by Bishop Luigi Marrucci.
The Pope has appointed as bishop of Civitavecchia-Tarquinia, Italy, Bishop Gianrico Ruzza, transferring him from the titular see of Subaugusta and the office of auxiliary of Rome.
Bishop Gianrico Ruzza
Bishop Gianrico Ruzza was born on 14 February 1963 in Lugnana in Teverina, in the diocese and province of Rome. After completing his studies at the Roman Major Seminary, he was ordained a priest on 16 May 1987 for the diocese of Rome.
After ordination he was awarded a licentiate in canon law from the Pontifical Gregorian University. He has served as assistant and then vice-rector of the Pontifical Roman Major Seminary; rector of the rectory Church of Santa Cecilia in Trastevere and then of the annex Church of San Lorenzo de Speziali in Miranda; parish administrator of the San Pio X parish; and parish priest of the San Roberto Bellarmino parish. He was also director of the vicariate clergy office, ecclesiastical assistant of the Salvatorian academic apostolate, secretary of the diocesan pastoral council, prefect of Prefecture VI, president of the interdiocesan Institute for the Support of the Clergy of the dioceses of Rome and Ostia, and member of the college of consultors.
Appointed titular bishop of Subaugusta on 8 April 2016, he received episcopal ordination the following 11 June. Among other positions, he exercised the episcopal ministry in Rome first as auxiliary bishop for the central sector (2016-2019), also holding the office of prelate secretary of the Vicariate of Rome (2017-2019). Since 2019 he has served as auxiliary bishop for the southern sector.

The Holy Father has appointed as auxiliary of the diocese of San Cristóbal de Venezuela, Venezuela, the Reverend Juan Alberto Ayala Ramírez, of the clergy of the diocese of San Cristóbal de Venezuela, currently episcopal vicar for the “Espíritu Santo” territorial zone and parish priest of “Nuestra Señora de los Ángeles” in La Grita, assigning him the titular see of Rusubisir.
Reverend Juan Alberto Ayala Ramírez
The Reverend Juan Alberto Ayala Ramírez was born in San Pedro de Pregonero, in the Uribante municipality, in the diocese of San Cristóbal de Venezuela on 15 November 1973. He carried out his priestly formation at the diocesan major seminary. He was awarded a licentiate in education from the Instituto Universitario Eclesiástico Santo Tomás de Aquino in Tariba, Venezuela, and attended a specialisation course in Milan, Italy, on priestly formation and vocational pastoral care, promoted by the Pontifical Regina Apostolorum Athenaeum in Rome, and a master’s course in Neurocompetencias para la educación at the Caribbean International University in Curaçao.
He received priestly ordination on 1 November 2002 and was incardinated in the diocese of San Cristóbal de Venezuela.
He has held the following offices: secretary to the bishop, secretary to the diocesan Curia, notary of the diocesan tribunal, chancellor of the Curia, director of vocational pastoral care, professor of the Instituto Universitario Eclesiástico Santo Tomás de Aquino, vice-rector of the minor seminary, director of the Unidad educativa Seminario menor Santo Tomás de Aquino, professor in the major seminary, parish priest of the parish Nuestra Señora de los Ángeles in La Grita and episcopal vicar for the Espíritu Santo territorial area.
