Approval of the election of the dean and deputy dean of the College of Cardinals

On 18 January 2020 the Holy Father approved the election – by the cardinals of the Order of Bishops – of the dean of the College of Cardinals, in the person of His Eminence Cardinal Giovanni Battista Re, of the Title of the Suburbicarian Church of Sabina-Poggio Mirteto, who will also assume the Title of the Suburbicarian Church of Ostia.

Likewise on 24 January 2020, the Supreme Pontiff approved the election of the deputy dean of the same College, in the person of His Eminence Cardinal Leonardo Sandri, of the Title of Santi Biagio e Carlo ai Catinari, prefect of the Congregation for the Oriental Churches.

 

Appointment of apostolic nuncio in Zimbabwe

The Holy Father has appointed Archbishop Paolo Rudelli, titular of Mesembria, as apostolic nuncio in Zimbabwe.

 

Appointment of auxiliaries of the archdiocese of México

The Holy Father has appointed the following as auxiliary bishops of the archdiocese of México:

Reverend Luis Pérez Raygosa, of the clergy of the same archdiocese, canon secretary of the Metropolitan Chapter and episcopal vicar, assigning him the titular see of Suava;

Reverend Héctor Mario Pérez Villareal, of the clergy of the archdiocese of Monterrey, parish priest and head of the Department of Assets, assigning him the titular see of Bennefa;

Reverend Francisco Daniel Rivera Sánchez, M.Sp.S., superior general of the Missionaries of the Holy Spirit, assigning him the titular see of Aradi.

 

Reverend Luis Pérez Raygosa was born on 21 August 1973 in Mexico City, archdiocese of México, and at the age of 19 entered the Conciliar Seminary of México. He received priestly ordination on 13 May 2000 for the archdiocese of México. After spending two years in the Conciliar Seminary, and in the Minor as head of discipline, in 2002 he began his studies at the Pontifical Gregorian University, where he was awarded a licentiate in spiritual theology.

In 2004 he was appointed as prefect of discipline in the Conciliar Seminary; from 2007 to 2019 he was coordinator of the area of spirituality in the seminary; from 2007 to 2012, he was member of the college of consultors and of the presbyteral council; from 2015 to 2019 he was head of the diocesan Commission for the Causes of Saints; since 2017 he has served as canon and secretary of the Cathedral chapter, and since last year, as parish priest of San Jacinto and episcopal vicar of the “Beato Miguel Agustín Pro” vicariate.

 

Reverend Héctor Mario Pérez Villareal was born on 20 February 1970 in the City of Monterrey, in the archdiocese of the same name. After beginning his studies as Contador público, in 1992 he entered the archdiocesan seminary and studied philosophy and theology. In 1995 he was sent to the Pontifical University of Mexico City, where he was awarded a licentiate in dogmatic theology. After being ordained a priest on 9 January 1999, for the archdiocese of Monterrey, he served as deputy parish priest, coordinator of youth ministry, prefect of discipline and coordinator of studies at the seminary. In 2015 he was awarded a doctorate from the Pontifical Gregorian University. In the years 2017-2018 he served as pastor of San Jorge Mártir and zonal episcopal vicar. Since 2018 he has been a member of the Commission for the health of priests, and since last year, pastor of Nuestra Señora de Fátima and head of the Department of Assets of the archdiocese. He is professor of ecclesiology in the Seminary and has been chaplain of various communities of nuns.

 

Fr. Francisco Daniel Rivera Sánchez, M.Sp.S., was born on 15 October 1955 in Guadalajara, in the archdiocese of the same name. He has a degree in public accounting. He got to know the spirituality of Blessed Conchita Cabrera by attending the Círculo de Jóvenes del Espíritu Santo y la Cruz, and in 1977 he became one of the Missionaries of the Holy Spirit. He studied philosophy in Guadalajara and theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University. In 1985 he gave his religious vows with the Missionaries of the Holy Spirit. After receiving priestly ordination on August 12, 1988, he was transferred to Madrid, where he collaborated in a parish entrusted to his congregation and received a licentiate in pastoral theology from the Pontifical University of Salamanca. From 1989 to 1994, he was deputy parish priest in the parish of Santa Maria Liberatrice in Milan; from 1994 to 1999, superior of the community of theologians in the Lombard capital; from 2000 to 2004, superior of the house for volunteers in Mombello; from 2004 to 2010, counsellor and provincial treasurer in Guadalajara; from 2010 to 2016, provincial superior and, since 2016, superior general.
