Inauguration of the Academic Year at the Pontifical John Paul II Theological Institute for Marriage and Family Sciences
Next Friday, November 29, the new academic year of the Institute will be inaugurated in the Carlo Caffarra Auditorium of the Pontifical John Paul II Theological Institute for Marriage and Family Sciences.
Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Secretary of State, will give the inaugural address dedicated to the theme “The Family, School of Liberation and Peace”. He will propose a reflection on the role of the institution of the family, defined by Pope Francis in the Apostolic Exhortation Amoris Laetititia as “a great school of freedom and peace”. “In the family, we learn how to live as one [...] the family itself introduces fraternity into the world. From this initial experience of fraternity, nourished by affection and education at home, the style of fraternity radiates like a promise upon the whole of society” (Amoris Laetitia, 194).
The Dies Academicus, which will inaugurate the new year 2019-2020, will be opened with a greeting from Archbishop Vincenzo Paglia, Grand Chancellor of the Institute, and with a speech by Msgr. Pierangelo Sequeri, President of the Institute. The Dies will conclude with the presentation of awards for the academic year.
